My Hobbies: Postcrossing

Hello babes,

Today I wanted to tell you a bit about one of my hobbies, postcrossing.

For those who don't know, postcrossing is about swapping postcards with people you don't know around the world. You create an account to a free website, ask to get an address of a random receiver, and your ready to start.

I learned about postcrossing from my good friend Piia, who has been involved with it since we were in senior high. It didn't affect on me back then, but when I moved away from my hometown I realized the fact that people don't sent "snail mail" anymore. It would've been fun to get cards and all from friends but I guess our style is to text nowadays.

But as a romantic that I am, I wanted to get more than just bills in my mailbox. And so, when I started to work as a postal worker, I realized again that there's such hobby as postcrossing. Also, seeing all those beautiful cards going all over the world really inspired my into starting the hobby too. :)

To me, postcrossing is a nostalgic way of learning new things about countries, cities, and people all over the world. And the cards I've gotten are really lovely and beautiful. The thought of someone choosing, buying, writing and sending a card to you, without even knowing you, is really heart-warming. That's what keeps me into it. Kinda like getting comments keeps you blogging, I think.

Anyway, I think there's already enough blabbering from my side, so I'll continue with pictures of the cards I've already gotten through postcrossing. They aren't as big as my style shots would be, since there are so many of them, but if they seem too small, let me know so I can fix it as soon as possible. ;)

(This is one of the coolest I've seen, the picture is actually a handicraft. Someone has sewn and so on the picture herself.)

(This adorable card is from a little girl from the U.S., she clearly had written it all by herself :') so, so cute.)

So, here you have my collection this far. I hope you like this post, even though it has very little (if anything) to do with style. ;)

Have a creative day, everyone, and if this post got you interested in postcrossing, see www.postcrossing.com  for details.

A friend of mine told me about postcrossing years ago, but I let it slip. Maybe now it is the time to actually do it.

  8. Hi, I got a lovely postcard from you! I saw your profile on Postcrossing, and found this blog article.
I live in the southern part of Japan, and rarely see snow, so the picture of winter frost on blueberries seemed especially beautiful. Also, the shiny blue color pen you used to write was cute, and goes best with your manicure!

    Happy post crossing!
