Greyscale Minnie Mouse

Hi lovelies,

How are you all? ♥ Waiting for the weekend already?

I am. We're heading to Helsinki once again, and we're going to see friends of ours, shop a little, and visit an amusement park. I couldn't be more excited!

I was supposed to post yesterday already, but I was just a bit too tired to do that with thought, so... But I have to say, Wednesday was kind of the loveliest day in a while. My fiance decided he just had to buy me a lunch in a sort-of-a-French restaurant, with a dessert and all, and he still has the nerve to tell me he doesn't have the money to treat me like a princess. Personally, I think he spoils me.

Luckily I have my cooking skills to make it up to him every once in a while, though. (Which reminds me, if you haven't already, check out the latest food post, Chicken Enchiladas!)

Like on his birthday a couple of weeks ago, when I baked him a Super Mario themed cake. If you haven't seen it already on Instagram, here's your chance:

I was aiming to cute cake, decorated with Invincibility stars and with a colorful inside. I have never ever baked anything this close to rainbow before, but I gotta say, this whole colorful baking is really therapeutic and fun. ;) (I also made a Hello Kitty cake after this one, and I'll be posting the recipe on July.)

And as we are talking about his birthday bash, some might remember me mentioning we had a few friends over to drink and play some video games. As I'm not a girl to spend a party in a pair of lounge pants or in something equally anti-girly, I opted for a dress. I was wearing the same outfit for work, and one of my lovely colleagues said I reminded her of a Minnie Mouse - and hence, the title.

Tunic dress: thrifted
Belt: SpiritStore
Headband: Seppälä
Hello Kitty necklace: gift from the sweet Laura (I'm hunting a perfect gift for you this weekend ;))
Ballet flats: Skopunkten

That dress is something I bought from a thrift store back in high school, just because I loved the color and the cut of it. Since then, I've worn it so many times I can't even tell you, but now it seems that I can't find that many different ways to wear it. But with enough bows, it seems, everything looks adorable.

What are your thoughts about this look?

Oh, and another thing. If my hair looks, well, more than usual, it's because of this amazing set of clip-on extensions I bought as a birthday present for myself. Now, the question is: Would you like to hear some more about hair extensions? I could write up a post about my set, attaching and taking care of them, and how to use them in hairdos. But that's up to you, if it's something you'd wanna read about, I'll do it. :)

Also, I will do an apartment post once I get our balcony ready. As you can see from the shots above, the balcony is a bit "urban" - meaning it looks a bit too harsh for our taste, but we're working on that as we speak. ;) I can't wait to show you some details around our home!

And, if you haven't already, please check out my previous post, it's all about nails! ♥

But now, I really need to catch up on some blog reading. ♥

Blog ya later!

P.S. There's already 190 of you (+10 from the food, book and DIY sites), yay! I love my readers! Thanks for your support ♥

Hi lovelies,

I'm sorry this putting up this post took longer than expected. We're now spending Midsummer (in Finnish, Juhannus) at our friend's cabin in the middle of nowhere basically, and we arrived here around 3am last night. So it's been a bit busy, or something, but thank God I got the time now to post this....

So, how are you all today? Having a lovely Summer day? (Or Winter day, if you live on that side of the globe.)

I know, I should now just get to the point, right? :D

So, I just used Random.org to pick up winners for both my Birthday Giveaway prizes, and the lucky winners are....

How to wear high waisted shorts (sponsored post)

Hi lovelies, today's post contains hints on how to style your pair of high waisted shorts. I liked the styling ideas presented here, so I thought I'd share it with you. As mentioned, this post is sponsored, and I agree with the points presented here. The winners of the Birthday Giveaway will be announced after I've had a good night's sleep, and I'll be back with normal posting after a day or two...

How to wear high waisted shorts

Summer is already underway, and this time round, high waisted shorts have found themselves at the forefront of street style. But there’s more to a pair of shorts than just letting your legs see a little sun. They’re super versatile, and by teaming them with a few basic items, you can create a multitude of wonderful looks.

Try them with plimsolls

If you’re feeling a little ‘on show’ in your shorts, you can always dress them down with a pair of ballet shoes and a shirt dress for that trendy boho-chic look.

Try them with wedges

If you’re looking for something a little slicker, you could try them with some wedges and a vest top. Let your hair down for this one too. Going full Valley Girl by teaming high waisted shorts with a pair of high, chunky wedges is sure to turn a few heads.  This look is simple, sexy and ultra-glamorous – a perfect way to dress for a night out, without feeling overdone. Shoes with a high heel often make your legs appear longer too, so go for it.

Try them with flip-flops

For that ultimate, unfailing summer look, wear your shorts with a pair of flip-flops. As with all types of shorts, it’s often up to the footwear to dictate the style and the setting you’re going for. As long as the sun’s out, flip-flops and shorts will always look great – whether you’re shopping in town, basking on the beach or jumping about at a music festival.

Remember, you don’t have to go bare!

Yes, they’re shorts and they are designed to show off your legs. But if you don’t want to go bare, you don’t have to. If you feel a little exposed with your legs out, try teaming your shorts with a pair of black tights. If you’re worried about your figure, tights will also help to pull everything in a little. And as ever, you can always build yourself up to bare legs by gradually decreasing the denier of your tights.

Tuck them over

There’s a whole host of other clothes you can wear high waisted shorts with. Just remember the golden rule – keep it simple. Classic colours work best and never risk going out of fashion. Show off your new shorts, as well as your figure, by tucking them over a flowing white silk shirt, a vest top or even a bathing suit.

I hope you enjoyed the post, to keep in touch outside this blog you can contact me through Twitter or Instagram (I'm addicted to my cell phone that much, hehe...) and you can find me under the name silvertigo on both. I'll be happy meeting you all there! ♥

Coral Lace & Black Leather

Hey lovelies,

How was your weekend? ♥

I have been spending some time with a close friend, had a Skype call with mom and dad, and now I'm reading through a huge pile of blog posts you all have been posting this weekend (there's a lot of work there, do you all have to be so fabulous and talented? ;)). It's actually raining now here in Finland, and I'm anxious to find a 10 minute gap it wouldn't rain, so I could go outside take some photos...

Maybe I'll get lucky, though. :D

The upcoming week will be kinda busy, my boss told me I'm needed at work even more than usual, so I think I'll write another post right after this one just so I can provide new material for you all despite the rush here. :D

Now, there's two things I wanna say before we go through the outfit.

Firstly, remember to check out & enter my Birthday Giveaway!

Secondly, I've been thinking about making a post about our apartment. Would you guys like to see that?

Okay, so now I think it's time to show you another outfit I really loved to wear. I paired neon coral and black, wore a fab little accessories and topped it off with my favorite leather jacket. I hope you enjoy the look too!

Cropped leather jacket: VILA

Ballet flats: Skopunkten
Earrings: H&M
Neon chain bracelets: Seppälä
Friendship bracelets: DIY
Metallic bracelet: H&M
Necklaces: H&M

This was one of my favorite Summer looks this far, though it's still such early to say that... :D But there's pink, lace, some leather and an arm full of bling.... That's just so my thing. I think I need to figure out how to wear this a bit differently, so it doesn't get old. ;)

What are your thoughts about this look?

This time, I have a cute pink manicure to go together with this look. I wanted to use stars as I have been making a lot of animal prints lately, and this is what I came up with this time:

Manicure of the day

Photobucket

Photobucket

It's supposed to have a little ombre effect there, but it doesn't really show in the photos... :D It's more like a rough version of a French manicure with some stars on it. I've been thinking I should try out a more "bling" manicure for a midsummer party we're having with friends the next weekend... Do you think I should create something like that?

I really hope you'll all have a lovely week, the next post will be all about nails (nail care, nail art, etc...), and I hope you'll enjoy that when I get it posted. ♥

Now I think it stopped raining, finally, so I try and convince the love of my life to go out with me and take some pictures...

Blog ya later!

First Party of the Spring

Hi beautiful people!

Have you already remembered to enter my birthday giveaway?

How are you all doing this week? Did you have a fabulous weekend? :)

I had - or well, if not fabulous, then hilarious at least. Like mentioned on the previous post, we had a little birthday bash in my man's honor. I even baked a fun cake (like you might have seen if you're on Instagram)! I'll be posting a few words on that later, but today, I'll show you little pieces from my future father-in-law's retirement party (meaning, flowers and my outfit, as I wanna protect his privacy enough to not show all the gifts and so on...)

Anyway, the party was at the end of May, and we had to start driving there very early in the morning, as it was planned the way that the place where father-in-law had worked served coffee and cake for everyone at 9am. So, with just 4 hours of sleep, off we were. It was a cute little event, and from there, we headed to my fiance's parent's home. Before we had this sweet family dinner, I helped out with the flowers given by people congratulating.

Photobucket

I simply couldn't resist taking a few shots of the gorgeous flowers around the house. Is it just me, or do they really make you feel happy as well?

Photobucket

Photobucket

This metallic rose was just awesome, it was made especially for my fiance's father, so it's unique. And just look how beautiful it is! (Also, you simply can't manage to kill this one...)

Photobucket

Photobucket

As mentioned, I didn't take too many photos otherwise, as there were many people I don't know that well, and also, because my future mother-in-law needed my help with quite a few things that day (setting the table, arranging flowers and gifts, carrying stuff from one floor to another...). So I had to forget photographing and focus on my family instead.

Yes, I feel they're my family even though I'm not officially "married to them" yet.

As the party was mostly within the family, and I had to travel, I tried to choose a simple and practical look, while still being a bit festive. (Apparently, I was more festive than others after all... Oh well.) So here's my choice for the day.

Dress: Gina Tricot
Blazer: H&M
Shoes: Andiamo
Feather headband: H&M
Earrings: Gina Tricot
Bracelet: Gina Tricot
Cocktail ring: Gina Tricot

I really wanted to wear a blazer, so I built the rest of the outfit around it. Very basic but neat, and in my opinion, cute enough to wear at a party. The shoes are something I haven't worn in ages, but for this look I dug them out from their box and rocked them. ;)

What do you think about this outfit?

The nails weren't exactly planned for this outfit, but they were girly and glittery, so they were good enough. And here, you can see them:

Manicure of the day

Photobucket

The base was actually turquoise, but it came out green in every picture. :D Not that I'm complaining, it's pretty this way. The glittery polish is from OPI Muppet collection, and I'm super happy I bought it. It looks great with so many manicures! (I'm thinking of buying more OPI products after my next paycheck, as I get a bit of more money than usual ;))

What kind of manicures have you done recently? Share with me! :)

Now, I gotta go get ready for work, but I'll check in later and read your blogs - I'm in need of inspiration!

Have a lovely week, everyone!

I Wish I Had That Weather Now

Hi lovelies!

How are you today? ♥

I'm great, just stopped quickly by to say hello to you all - we're having a party sort of thing at our place the whole weekend (the ones on Instagram and Twitter might have seen I baked a Super Mario themed cake). We're kind of celebrating my fiance's birthday, and there's four friends visiting the whole weekend. ;) It's very crowded in here - in my opinion, at least - but I think it'll be a lot of fun anyways.

What are your plans for this weekend?

Also, have you already entered my birthday giveaway? If not, you can check it out here.

Today I wanted to share a look I put together around DIY decorated shorts the other day. It's a very casual outfit with nothing that special in it, but I personally liked it a lot. Now that I look outside, I can only wish was so sunny and warm today as well. (Instead, it's grey and kinda cold. That sucks.)

Anyways, here's the outfit:

Top: Gina Tricot
Shorts: Zara (with DIY stud details)
Wedges: SpiritStore
Bracelets: Braided ones are made in Africa, others DIY

I like those shorts a lot, they're so edgy now that I added the studs - not that they weren't gorgeous before, but now they're just perfect. ;) The top and shoes you've seen many times before, even together I believe, but I think I look different with this look. And the shorts are so versatile I've already planned many outfits including them, if the weather would just be so kind to me and stay warm.

But now, what do you think about the look? :)

I have to go now, and socialize with my guests, but I'll be online from time to time to visit your blogs too :) (Don't wanna miss too many of those amazing posts... ;))

Blog ya later!

A Dolphin-Loving Hippie

Hey lovelies! ♥

How are you today? How's your weekend?

I've been locked inside the apartment because of the rainy weather, but luckily I have pictures stored on my hard disc so I can write for you nevertheless. I started this morning with a cup of cappuccino and doing my nails (I can't wait to show the art for you, it's one of my favorites this far!), which to me is the perfect start for a weekend. I have gazillion things to do today still, but I found time to write just after we had a great little dinner.

Today's photos contain animals again (sorry if you find it boring...), but you can also find outfit photos on the bottom of this post. :) So, these photos were taken the day we went again to the amusement park, this time to go through all the rides - and to see dolphins, which are sort of a favorite to me. I just love them a lot.

I actually took about 250 photos of the dolphins (yes, 250 - there was movement, so I had to take A LOT) so naturally I had to make harsh elimination to get this post to a decent length.

But here you have it, our visit to the dolphin show:

Photobucket

He's telling the audience to give applause. Cute, huh?

Photobucket

Trained to blow bubbles - unfortunately I was a bit too far to take a decent photo.

Photobucket

It never stops amazing me how that big of an animal can jump that high just from water. And through hoops.

Photobucket

Now, I know they have bigger and better shows abroad, but as I haven't seen anything else yet, this feels stunning to me.

Photobucket

Anyone else thinking Free Willy after seeing this shot?

Photobucket

After the show, there's a chance to go closer to the pool/tank and see the dolphins close up. I took the chance gladly with the camera ready in my hand.

Photobucket

Pose.

Photobucket

Such a happy little dolphin. :)

After dolphins, we hit the rides, I took a plenty more photos, and somehow we ended up once again to the petting zoo. I won't share many photos from there as I did so already on a previous post, but I had to share two cute ones of the puppies.

Photobucket

The other one's posing nicely, while the black one...

Photobucket

...was too busy figuring out ways to get through the fence and into my lap. The little sweetie put both front paws through the hole in the fence, and the nose as well, but somehow couldn't quite get out. :D

The day required quite a casual look, but as the weather was amazing with the sunshine and all, I just had to dress up a bit. I decided to wear two items I've recently customized, and this is how they looked together:

Outfit of the day

Shorts: DIY (see here)
Top: Gina Tricot/DIY (the fringe with beads)
Sandals: SpiritStore
Plastic bead necklaces: cousin's old
Metallic necklaces: H&M
Butterfly ring: Gina Tricot
Quadrangle ring: Gina Tricot
Aviators: Citymarket

I loved this outfit, it was comfy, but still with a lot of personality. The fact both top and the bottom were more or less customized by me was just an icing on the cake, it felt amazing to wear unique pieces. And I think people liked the outfit, after all, it's kinda cute, totally harmless (no showing private places, no insulting prints) and most of all, fun. And the sandals I'm wearing are something I have in four different colors (not the exact same model, but they're all from the same store, so... (Yes, this is a warning for you having to see a lot of them if the weather is appropriate.)

Now, I want to hear your thoughts. What do you think about the look? And, would you maybe like a tutorial for a top like that?

Soon it's time for me to go make some dessert (trying to make crème brûlée with chocolate chips and strawberries - will post a recipe, promise!) and then read both your blogs and some school material. Yep, I still have a lousy little exam and a friend for it as well on Monday... And it'll be an interesting day because of other aspects as well, but more on that later.

Have a lovely, refreshing weekend, everyone! ♥ Thank you for being awesome.

Blog ya later!
