A Bit Boyish. (feat ice-hockey nails)

Hey honeys,

A bit random post (in my opinion) to cheer up your weeks. My week has been great so far, except that when writing this, I should actually be sleeping. Oops.

Anyways, I had my paycheck today, and wanted to celebrate it with my man by going to the movies. We went to see this new one called "Contagion", because I thought it's an interesting one. (And now I'm seriously freaked about every little piece of dirt everywhere.

Awesome.

As it was a very laid back day, I wore a very basic - even boyish - outfit, which I'm going to show you right here:

Only three pictures because I wasn't feeling too photogenic when taking these - sorry guys! Also, notice how my make-up has totally disappeared from the photos. :D

Shirt: made by me, Jeans: Nelly.com, Boots: Andiamo, Scarf: inherited from someone, Jacket: from flea market, Knitted cap: made by me, Belt: Seppälä.

Everything in this outfit is old and comfy, I must admit. :D But as I hadn't posted the exact outfit before, I figured why not. It's not like I blog about high fashion and therefore had only to show you expensive new pieces. (And maybe I can dedicate this one to Laura (from The Blog of Worldly Delights) for her successful six month challenge - yes girl, I know you make it through.)

Speaking of successful, I usually don't post that many bloopers here, but, as my nail art seems to inspire you, and all that, I'll show you my latest nail fail:

This was a normal, pretty base for a new manicure, which was supposed to be all girly and cool...(nail polish: Mavala, shade 75 Miami)

Photobucket

...but this is NOT what I had in mind. It might look okay in the photo there, but let me assure you, in reality it kinda looked like lizard skin.

Definitely not what I wanted. :D Lesson learned: IF you want to use IsaDora Glitter Graffiti (that's shade 813, Pink Fame, what I was using) you really must have a base that stands out from the glittery one :D otherwise, the result is this.

So, you've all been warned. Great.

On to the real one:

So, I wanted to do tribute nails for my favourite hockey team, KalPa from Kuopio, Finland. For those who don't know, I'm secretly (and not so secretly) pretty passoionate about ice-hockey, and I can actually take even a shouting match if someone insults my team enough. So, now that they finally seem to do okay in the Finnish league, I thought I'd paint my nails to represent that a bit.

Base: IsaDora, shade 191, Gothic Black

Top: IsaDora Graffiti Nail Top, shade 804, Yellow Crew

And for the extra touch, I added a red stripe to one of the nails. If you google KalPa, Kuopio, you'll see the resemblance to the logo of the team.

I admit these aren't the most classy nails I've done, but these ones have a story behind them, at least. Besidesm when was ice-hockey ever that glamorous anyway? ;) And I know that there are many who are sick and tired by the crackle trend already, but those can just scroll down the post and concentrate on the two last pictures. ;)

Since my fiancé and I root for different teams in Finnish league (yes, you read correct, different), I thought it'd be nice to paint my toe nails to represent my fiancé's fave team (Ässät (=Aces) from Pori, Finland):

Ässät has this cool logo with ace of spades (raise your hand if the song by Motörhead started to play in your head too) and the colours are just so stylish, so I gave it a try. I used toothpicks for creating the logo, and I must say, it wasn't too easy. But doable, so...

The outcome isn't the neatest, but it was my first time EVER with painting with toothpicks. So for that, kinda okay result, right?

Last, but certainly not the least...

My newest nail art purchase:

A gorgeous shade from O.P.I, the green one from the Muppets nail polishes, called Fresh Frog of Bel Air. Cost a lot, but I'm betting it's worth it. I'll try this one out when I figure out what polish to use underneath it. (As i believe it'll look silly alone, correct me if you happen to know better.)

So, how has your week started out
