My Darker Side

Hey lovelies,

How has your week been so far? ♥

Mine has been wonderful, except that I'm really hoping for the weather to change to warmer already. :D Minor details. My fiance was lovely enough to promise me some pampering in the spa the coming weekend, am I a lucky girl or what? (And, I get to test drive my new neon bikini which I was showing you here.)

I was telling you on the previous post I'd show you a way to style a band t-shirt, and that's exactly what we'll be seeing here today. The shirt is something I ordered pretty recently, wanting to support the one band I won't shut up about, Fireal. The shirt is girlie fit, and is actually way cooler than the promo picture showed. I love it, and have thought of other ways of styling it as well, but that'll be something to show you later on.

Today, I just thought of combining classic girly look with this dark side rocker edge, trying to make it work for me. The light outside wasn't perfect for shooting, actually quite the opposite, but my man did a lovely job anyways.

See what we came up with:

T-shirt (girlie fit): Official Fireal merchandise (you can get yours here)
Jeans: Mango
Jacket: Mango
Shoes: SpiritStore
Ear cuff: Nelly.com
Bangle: Nelly.com

I was feeling this look today, and it certainly got straight to my top 10 of outfits. I thought the big, girly hair and winged eye makeup would balance out the look from being too hardcore.

So, what do you guys think, did I do any good?

Also, the ones who have been reading for a longer time now know that I have this, well, obsession, of needing to have the nails matching the outfit. Can you guess the two colours I used this time around? :D

Manicure of the day

That's right, red and black all the way. ;) I'm sorry for the nails looking a bit untidy, they have suffered from work at this point... But the smudges between red and black are partially meant to be. :D (The shades used are Mavala nr. 2, Madrid, and IsaDora 191, Gothic Black. And yes, if you have an unsteady hand like me, you should use some tape to help you. How to? See this post.)

If there still is some of you wondering: "What's this Fireal the crazy person keeps talking about?", please check their website: http://www.thefireal.com/en/. The guys there are doing such an amazing job, and would love all the support we can give (meaning, if you like their music, please be kind enough to share!).

Also, the band has just released this amazing song called "Eve". You can (meaning: should ;)) listen to it here: http://thefireal.com/eve.html.

So yes, once again I managed to make the whole post about Fireal. Oh, well, we all love music, so why not get inspired by it, also in clothing and all?

Do you get inspired by bands/artists when thinking of clothing and style? And moreover, which band or artist is the recent outfit inspiration for you? Dare to share! ;)

Now I guess it's time for me to go check out some (surprise!) school work, and then, of course, read your amazing posts. But do have a lovely week, everyone of you!

Blog ya later!

I'm Just Casually Lazy, That's All.

Hello lovelies,

How was your weekend? Did you enjoy it? :)

I've actually had one of those weekends when you kinda do lot without really doing anything at all. But I'm cool with that, because honestly, I think I needed that so badly. (Can you believe, I didn't even cook during the weekend! That's how little I've been up to.) But that's fine, I got to spend some quality time with my man, and that's really all that matters to me. ;)

As I haven't been experiencing anything exciting, this post will be a bit short. I hope you don't mind. I just wanted post a little something as I'm not sure how crazy schedule I'll be having this week. :D

But because I don't have anything to say about me, why don't we talk about you all? Yes, you. Everyone reading this. You are amazing, seriously! Every day it makes me speechless how many of you come here and comment on my humble little posts, saying all kinds of sweet and thoughtful things. I'm so glad I've "met" you all. And also a special thanks to my readers, there's over 160 of you! ♥ Wow. That's so huge to me.

Therefore, because I really want to reward you for being, well, amazing, I'm thinking of hosting a giveaway after my finals (or whatever is the right term for the exam). Meaning, in the first half of May. So, be ready for some goodies then. ;)

Okay, let's talk about clothes a little bit, shall we? As mentioned above, I wasn't really doing anything this weekend, so, I didn't wear anything remarkable. Just a striped shirt, size too big jeans, and a little bling. Here's how it looked:

Striped shirt: DIY
Black top (under the shirt): H&M
Jeans: H&M
Wedges: SpiritStore
Necklace: Seppälä

Still feeling for the pink, as I did in the previous post. Spring has that kind of an effect on me. :D I don't know what really say about this look, as it is once again something I just threw together without much thought... Oh but I can say it looked too plain without the necklace, so that's why it's there. ;)

My thoughts are already on my next post, I'm sorry that it effects on my writing now... But I have this cool idea of putting together an outfit around a band T-shirt. (and I'm adding a challenge to myself, it has to be girly, too ;)) So that's what's up next here. Cool, right?

Now, I just wanna wish you all a great week! Stay awesome! ♥

I Missed You, Pink Trench!

Hi babes ♥

What's up with you all? Having a great start for your weekend? :)

I hope so.

Okay, so, who else is loving it that the Spring is finally starting? Ain't it awesome to feel the weather get warmer every day and, if you live as much in North as I do, to see the snow melting away in front of your eyes. I think it's pretty incredible.

What's also incredible, is that I've been finding a part of me that has kinda been missing for a while. I can't exactly describe what it is, I just know that now I feel like I'm in a place I should be in. I don't know if I have just been having a lack of vitamins, or was it something else, but hey, the main thing is that I'm feeling great, right? ;)

Are you all feeling whole and awesome? ♥

Anyway, I think my point was that the sunny weather is giving me inspiration in so many ways - though only way to get creative is usually just put together a nice outfit these days. (School, work, other projects... I've been sleeping way too little the past 6 days :D) So, that was exactly what I did earlier this week.

Some while ago, I bought a dress from a friend from school who just wanted to clean up her closet a bit, and offered the items to me and couple of other girls visiting her that day. I fell for the dress for its chic casuality, and I thought it'd make a fantastic "mix & match" piece. And below is my first attempt to style it.

Trench: VILA
Dress: Second hand from May ;)
Scarf: Nelly.com
Lace leggings: GinaTricot
Boots: Kenkä Cosmos
Necklace: Accessorize
Bracelet: JC (jeans and clothes)

I think it's not hard to guess where the title of this post came from... I've been itching to wear that trench for weeks, but it has been too cold. Not that it was especially warm the day I was wearing it, but... You gotta start somewhere, right? ;) So, in my mind, it's Spring already. Yay!

Now, I'd like to ask you: What do you think about this outfit? And, is there a fashion piece you've been longing to wear, but haven't been able due to the weather lately?

You know what, this sudden flow of inspiration has gotten me deep into the sewing. I must say, I'm not a master at it, nowhere near that, actually. But what I lack in skills I make up in determination, creativity and patience, so, after a failed attempt to sew a lace dress, I tried again the next day. And here's what I came up with:

Photobucket

It looks a bit more pale and yellow than it truly is (and the red mannequin isn't the best for the photo), but you get the idea. Next I was thinking I'd use my huge amount of white lace to glam up a dress I haven't worn for years. I'll be sharing that later. :)

Now, I just wanna wish you all a fantastic weekend! Who else is gonna watch Formula 1 this weekend? (Sherin, I'm sure your my girl on this ;)) Or, do you have some other nice plans?

Blog ya later,

Rocking the Casual

Hey beautiful people ♥

How are you today?

Here in Finland, we're enjoying a pretty sunny day - I'm hoping that's a sign of Spring starting properly. (Though probably, it's not.) I kinda overestimated the warmth outside and threw on a too light jacket, but, things happen. (A sneak peek from the look will be added to Facebook later today.)

Are you the same as me, is it with you too that when it's sunny, you basically can't stop smiling at everything?

This morning, I had to woke up at 6:30am to get to my math class, but somehow, it didn't feel as bad as usual. I had planned my outfit last night, so that I could just jump in it and get going after doing my hair. (Planning beforehand is also something I never do. With anything.)

Something I also hadn't planned was eating out yesterday. But my fiance got his paycheck and insisted he'd buy me a dinner. How could've I said no to that? (In case you haven't noticed, I'm very food-oriented :D)

I also enjoyed a free night from work yesterday, as I do today as well, so I got on with my sewing after quite a long while... The results can be seen at the end of this post.

When it comes to the clothing, I was being very casual - after all, I wasn't really expecting a restaurant dinner. So I was rocking my ripped stud jeans and a pink t-shirt, as usual at school. And it looked somewhat like this:

Jeans: GinaTricot (details DIY)
T-shirt: H&M
Belt: Seppälä
Shoes: Puma
Bracelet: GinaTricot

In a casual day, I'm very often sporting just jeans and a t-shirt, without much accessories. I don't know if it's boring to some, but it's super comfy. And most days, it's all that counts.

What are your thoughts about this look?

Remember how I mentioned I had been doing some DIY? Well, here is a picture of it (not a great one, but still.)

Photobucket

It's chiffon beach tunic, that will be awesome to wear with shorts, bikini, leggings... Well, I'll figure out ways to style it. ;) Suggestions?

I hope you're all having an amazing week, keep being awesome, everyone! ♥

Our Weekend Trip to Helsinki

Hey lovelies!

How was your weekend like? Where did you go, what did you do, did you meet amazing people? :)

Like you might have read from the previous posts, I was in Helsinki the whole weekend, visiting my fiance's uncle. He lives alone so we love to go and spend some time with him every once in a while. And I must say, he's pretty cool. So, this post is all about our weekend trip. (Outfit and nails can be found from the very bottom of this post, along with my weekend haul.)

We started our trip on Friday night, on 8pm or something like that. The drive from Tampere to Helsinki is somewhat 2 hours, so it's an easy trip. At least, for a someone like me who's used to travel in car even very long distances for as long as I can remember.

Photobucket

Picture above is what you get when trying to "just quickly take a photo" from a moving vehicle...

Needless to say, our Friday was just about traveling. Saturday, on the other hand, was completely for shopping, eating and having a fabulous time. Which we sure did.

Helsinki was showing its foggy side that day, which I was kinda glad about because I had too thick coat with me the whole trip. But I hoped I could take at least somewhat nice pictures for you all. So here's a little sneak peek of the city of Helsinki:

Photobucket

Like I told, foggy. It's around 11am here, even though I think it looks more like 8am.

Photobucket

Helsinki railway station. One of the buildings that are most easy to recognize in Helsinki. I really like the architecture of it, and will take better pictures of it on Summer. :)

We didn't eat too big of a breakfast, and very soon after we hit the shops, my fiance said he was starving. So I promised he can pick a place and I'd buy him a brunch. (He's adorable enough to get super happy about little things like that ♥)

Photobucket

My not-too-glamorous brunch. But hey, it was a smoked salmon baguette. :D

We spent 5-6 hours walking around shops of Helsinki, and I was really proud of myself for only buying 4 things. Yes, girls, I'm serious. I have finally found my self-control, and I couldn't be more proud. :D

Anyway, moving on.

At Saturday night, we and uncle decided to eat out on a Japanese restaurant called Koto. They have amazing food, fantastic staff and an inspiring decor. I'm still a bit unsure of myself with my camera, and I try to take my pictures in a way that it doesn't disturb anyone. So, I don't know, tell me if my photos are uninspiring or something. :D
  Photobucket

Who would't want to eat here?

I think I haven't told you yet, but I have this thing about origamis. I think they're super adorable, and I love absolutely any place that has them as a decoration. As a kid, I used to know like three shapes by heart, and made them a lot. (Ladies and gentlemen, that's called "only-child-syndrome". It's totally harmless.)

Photobucket

This charming detail was right next to our table.

Now here's a place where there should be a picture of an amazing portion of sushi. We all know there's none. Why?

Because this blogger here has an addiction to sushi. I literally forget everything else when getting some sushi in front of me. I had put my camera into my bag while waiting the food, and then, it just stayed there. Halfway through my food I finally gained back my sense and realized I'd forgotten something important. Oh, well.

It was delicious, anyway.

Photobucket

A dessert, orange-white wine sorbet. ♥

I can't really tell you how tasty this little treat was... Give me anything with white wine in it, and I'll love it. (Oops, I think that sounded bad... All the readers under the age, let me assure you, I'm 21 years already, so I'm allowed to have my wine ;))

On Sunday, I got a wake-up call from Formula 1 cars. My fiance is a huge fan of the sport, and watches every race, so he was easily up when the time was to start the show (7am). I, on the other hand, had been up until 2am, talking to few friends on FB chat. So, I was not too energetic even though I enjoy my F1 as much as anyone. But I kinda watched through the GP half sleeping...

I'll be a better girlfriend next weekend.

Later, we had a late lunch in a little restaurant called Britannia (Britain). Once again I liked the decor, even though (or maybe because) it reminded me of pubs.

   Photobucket

Is it totally weird that I find this charming?

  Photobucket

If I had a super big house with a basement, I'd totally make it into a bar like this (without the random people, of course). How awesome would that be?

  Photobucket

A small meal for my man ♥ (I could never eat that much on one meal, I'd explode.)

  Photobucket

My grilled steak with veggies and fries. Loved it.

We headed back home a little after we had finished our meal, and that was the end of that lovely little trip. I had two very different outfits for the weekend, and on this post, I'm showing you the first of them.

Outfit of the day

PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket

Blazer: H&M
Top: H&M
Shorts: SpiritStore
Tights: Pieces (Only)
Boots: Tunnelin Kenkä
Necklace: H&M
Earrings: Seppälä

This is what I considered as a great outfit for shopping and eating out, and as I am eager to take out all my Summer clothes already, I was once again layering with shorts. I love these denim shorts to bits, just because of their stud detailing. As the outfit was pretty simple, I thought adding a couple of statement accessories would make it totally fabulous. For me, it looks cool.

What are your thoughts?

Then, to my mini haul. I was a bit surprised myself that I didn't manage to spend more money while shopping. Usually my shopping ends up with a lot of bags and a pretty empty wallet. But not this time, which I consider a good thing. :)

Photobucket

A pair of shoes from SpiritStore (that's right, I have the exact same shoes in brown, as well), a floral bracelet from JC, mint shorts from Zara, and a wallet from Accessorize.

I had been looking for a new wallet for a while now, and was super glad to find a perfect one this weekend. The other ones weren't as crucial, but totally something I can build outfits around. :)

With my nails, I was feeling like going pink this time. So, this is what I came up with:

Manicure of the day

Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket

A kind of half-and-half manicure with two totally different pink shades. I used Mavala nail polishes 75 Miami, and Stockholm. To add some bling, I finished it off with the Make Up Store polish 002 Asun Sparkling.

What do you think of this one?

So, kind of a long post this time, sorry if it's too long. I just couldn't figure out a smart place to cut this, so I posted all I had. Except the another outfit.

I hope your week will be starting amazingly!

Blog ya later,

xoxo
