Coloring My Hair With Manic Panic

Hey lovelies! How are you today? ❤️

I've been super tired this week and still can't sleep in even this weekend because I have so much going on. So to get more energy, I decided to do a mini makeover yesterday. That means I lightly dyed my hair.

Manic Panic Haircolors

I had bought some Manic Panic colors earlier this fall, and now was a good time to dig out the purples and play around a bit. This time I used Ultra Violet, Electric Amethyst and Velvet Violet. I really like Manic Panic products because they are cruelty free as well as vegan, so I can play with colors but it doesn't harm the animals.

hair dye setup

Here you can see my not so fabulous setup. I have a designated towel for all my hair dye experiments, and as you can see, it has taken quite a bit of damage during the years. All in all I had pretty basic tools to do this with, I even had conditioner for diluting colors if needed.

Pink hair

Then, it was time to get started. Here you can see the hair I had before dyeing it, nicely faded pink that used to be shock purple. Cute shade, but I really wanted to freshen it up.

Manic Panic purples

Here you see how the colors looked like out of the jars. Velvet Violet was very faint pastel, and I used it for toning my roots a bit so that it would blend more nicely to the more vibrant purples. Electric Amethyst is the more pink of the vibrant ones, and Ultra Violet is the more blue one. I got to give you a fair warning if you want to try these colors, Ultra Violet seems to stain easily due the blue hues in it. Otherwise these are very easy to work with.

Hairdye

After an hour of coloring, it was time to wait. I gave my color somewhat of an hour of time to develop - or more definitely to soak in. Then I hopped into the shower and washed my hair as I usually do.

DIY purple ombre

And today, the hair looks like this.

It's a pretty nice color even if I say so myself. Not a professional result of course, and I will still be happy to go to my hair lady Jenni next month. But it was fun to try out something different especially because Manic Panic colors are easy enough to get off with washes.

What do you think about the hair color? Let me know in the comments below!

That's all for today, but I'll be back soon with another post. In the meantime, follow me on Instagram (@silvertigo) for daily outfits and other fun stuff. I'm trying to step up the Insta pic quality due to the new camera, and hopefully you'll see the difference as well. I'll see you in the next post!

Have a great weekend loves ❤️

  1. I would have done my whole hair with these colors because I really like the gradient effect you achieved with them. Great work!
