Food Lover

Heya pretties!

What have you been up to this weekend? I dedicated myself for cooking (or rather, baking, see here) and watching movies. (Rango and Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides)

Haven't really been dressing up too much, but tried out this - I'd say Japanese inspired - outfit, which was a little bit out of my usual comfort zone but still, I liked it. (And since it's under 10 degrees in here - Celsius, that is - this kinda raised more than few looks from other people...) I wore this yesterday for a shopping trip, when we went to look for some new shirts for my fiancé.

Oh, and sorry for the poor quality, I'm fixing the issue after Christmas, promise!! ;)

T-shirt: GinaTricot (it says "Let's Sushi", in case it's unclear to you), Shorts: VILA, Leggings: Pieces (Only), Legwarmers: Seppälä (sooo old), Shoes: Puma, Handbag: I believe it's H&M, but wouldn't swear on it..., Bangles: Nelly.com, Cupcake necklace: Accessorize, Pink pearls: my cousin's old ones.

I kinda tried to be creative, not a perfect ten maybe, but I really liked this outfit. (As did my fiancé, which is why I wore this :'D) The pink box featuring in there is the box of my new shoes. I found this gorgeous pair of wedges (light cognac colour) and I had to buy them despite of my account being very light right now. Well, Monday's a paycheck day.

Phew.

Anyways, I've been keeping up the Halloween spirit here a little bit, baking cookies (just because I found the perfect recipe), planning foods for next weekend (we're having a sort of After Halloween/Fathers' Day thingy with my parents). Also, I painted my nails to fit the theme (as I didn't have any other way to dress up... Note to self: Next year, own party.)

Manicure of the Day

This manicure was inspired by the blog A Little Obsessed, written by the lovely Sabrina, who is one of my favourite beauty bloggers at the moment. She writes great reviews on beauty products and her advice have helped me a lot.

Anyways, inspired by her, these are my "Halloween nails"

Photobucket

First, apply two layers of orange nail polish (I used some cheap H&M polish, would normally choose a more expensive one, but... I kind of figured this out very last minute).

Photobucket

Then, apply one layer of black, crackling nail polish. (I used the IsaDora one, as I totally love all the polishes from them)

Photobucket

Now, as you can see, the outcome isn't too cute. But it's for Halloween, so... They're kinda cool for that. I mean, as they are all I have for a costume. I'm still getting rid of these as soon as I hit the "Publish post" button. ;)

But hey, how has your weekend been? Any cool places you've been to? Amazing people you've met?

As I said, my weekend was nice and relaxing, and today I went for a delicious dinner with my fiancé and his parents. We had a great time in our favourite restaurant, and now that I'm writing I wish I had taken pictures to share with you... I'll remember that the next time, lovelies!

But now, hitting few rounds of NHL12 with my man, so...

Blog ya later!

P.s. Is it just me, or do I mention food (in any way) unusually many times in this post?

Dressy Denim

Hey babes,

How was your weekend?

Mine was very nice, I was having a wonderful time with my fiancé and a couple of friends, who we hadn't seen for a while. I also managed to go through a shopping trip without buying anything. That, my friends, I call a success. ;)

Remember, you can still enter my international necklace giveaway for two days! The winner will be chosen at random on Wednesday 25th, so now, take part by commenting on the giveaway post. You can also enter multiple times with ways given out in the last post. Remember, the entries are valid only, when they are posted in the original giveaway post. ;) Good luck!

But now, I'd like to share my today's outfit with you.

Dress: GinaTricot, Tights: Pieces (Only), Shoes: SpiritStore, Jacket: H&M, Necklace: Accessorize, Bracelets: Nelly.com, Bag: Tunnelin Kenkä.

After hanging out the whole weekend in jeans (which I wore for the previous post, and btw, managed to rip a bit more...), I felt like I could wear something a bit different. So I went for this light denim dress, and combined it with black and grey. I liked this, but what do you guys think?

When we were out taking these pictures, this little furry guy came out to check out the shoot:

Photobucket

 Can you spot him? ;)

That squirrel was totally adorable, trying to hide in a tree when we saw him, and then running away (behind a parked car). When we walked away from the parking lot, the little guy froze completely and stayed there staring (without blinking, I bet) at us as long as we could see him.

I'm not sure whether he's still staying at the spot, but I sure hope not. :)

Then, one more thing. Probably completely irrelevant, but this made me so, so happy I can't not tell...
My lovely, lovely fiancé bought me this Thomas Sabo bracelet I had longed for a while now, seeing it on many fashion magazines (if you count Glamour and InStyle to those) and checking them many times out live. Today, I found out they were in sale on one shop, so I dragged my fiancé to look at them.

And this is what I got:

Photobucket

The sales lady insisted in putting the bracelet on on cute little box. Couldn't say no to that, it's the perfect place to store the thing while not using it. (plus, it is an adorable box!) I kinda think she thought it was to someone else, after all, he bought the smallest bracelet (which fits perfectly, so guess how small that makes me :D).

Photobucket

And this is how it looks: I love this little hummingbird so much.Of course, it was difficult to choose from all the nice charms, but I wanted some of the cheaper ones for starters.

I mean, he was so nice, buying it to me at all, that I just couldn't ask for more.

Especially after getting a bouquet of pink roses (which were sold for the breast cancer awareness campaign) on Friday. I wish I can make them last for a week this time...

So, that's all I have today, remember to enter the giveaway and have a great start of the week!

Blog ya later!

Return of My Old Favourite (+ more ways to enter the giveaway)

Hey babes,

I was supposed to post this a day ago, but rearranging the apartment kinda took all my time :D

Today, we were picking up some friends from the railway station, and I tried to dress nicely even though I didn't (after all) have any time to do my hair. I blame that completely on sewing, it took more time than I thought... :D

We were a bit early in the station, so I thought I'd get some photos so that I could make a decent post for you guys. ;) This is very casual, not even having proper accessories. (yep, I was indeed cleaning again today...)

Does somebody have any clue what I was explaining here?

...neither do I.

Tried to get a good pic from the make-up, but that didn't quite work out for me... :D

Jacket: H&M, Top: H&M, Jeans: Auposen (Fiorella), Boots: Kenkä Cosmos, Bag: Tunnelin kenkä (= Tunnel's Shoe), Scarf: made by me.

Those jeans... <3 I totally love, love, love them. They're age-old, have been repaired more times than I dare to admit, but they still rock my world. My lucky jeans, my "full confidence" jeans. I always feel pretty wearing these, no matter how many times they've been fixed. As long as they somehow stay in one piece, I'm wearing them. :)

Apart from the jeans, I was sewing these:

Photobucket

I finally found great tablecloth fabrics, they're as close to perfection as I can get at the moment. I made four tablecloths, and I try to get some photos of how they look as soon as I can. :)

Then, something that would've gone to yesterday's post (if I'd written one):

Manicure of the Day

I was trying this cool three-coloured manicure on my nails. You'll see from the pics it was the first time ever I made it, but the funny thing is, that the first nail I painted came out perfectly. The others... not so much. But I hope this is inspiring even though my skills aren't that impressive yet.

Photobucket

Step 1: Take straight manicure tapes (one for each nail), and apply them on nails. You can do it straight, or the way I did it, which to me looks cooler. Apply grey polish (I used a matte shade from Depend) to the cuticle side.

Photobucket

Step 2: Take the tapes off. Apply a yellow nail polish (again using Depend, it's a neon yellow) to the rest of the nail.

Photobucket

Step 3: Take a black nail polish with a thin brush, and apply a thin black line to the meeting edge of the other two colours.

The result should look like this (mine was so much messier, but I trust you to know how to do this better :D) It might be recommendable to apply two coats of the two lighter colours, so that they come off more vibrante. Try it out, it's cool.

Lastly, a little thing concerning the necklace giveaway that's on still few days.

There's a couple of ways you can do to get an extra entry to the giveaway:

1. Follow me on Twitter (silvertigo).
2. Tweet about this giveaway.
3. Follow (er... like) this blog on Facebook.  (Link is easily found at the bottom of the blog)
4, Mention this giveaway on your blog post.

All the entries should be submitted to the original giveaway post (link above), so if you do any of these, let me know by commenting to the giveaway post (and please leave a link/your FB/Twitter name so I can check the entries ;). You can do them all, they all are their own entries, each counts as one.

There's still plenty of time until Tuesday, when the lucky winner will be chosen at random. The giveaway is open internationally, since the gift can easily be sent anywhere without too heavy postal costs. :)

So enter, tell your friends about it, and have them enter too!

I hope everyone is having a great weekend!

Blog ya later,

Outfit of The Day and... My First Giveaway!

Hey lovelies,

Today I've been not doing that much, shopping just a bit (nothing for myself, though), then I took my shoes to be fixed, cooked a salad (again), and washed dishes. I should still write some cards for postcrossing and tomorrow clean up the house a bit more (does it make me sound neurotic? :D).

Anyways, almost getting the home look like I want, just missing some little things like candlesticks and tablecloths. And of course a bouquet of fresh roses, just a little hint for the man of the house. ;)

Haven't been wearing anything too special, but thought this is still worth sharing:

Top: VILA, Jeans: Only, Belt: Seppälä, Bracelets: Nelly.com, Europehouse, Necklace: GinaTricot.

I bought the top from a friend last weekend, since she had no use for it anymore, and surprisingly no one had bought it even though she had tried to sell it on a flea market. Well, not that I'd mind, I got a coolest top for small amount of money. Thank you, Heini! <3

I tried to kind of make it rock a bit with the accessories, and I think it went well. The boots seem to go with every outfit these days, I should try to wear something else for a change. :)

But as I've mentioned, today I have some great news. Since evertything is going so smoothly in my life, with school and everything, and you've all been more than supportive with my blog, I decided to celebrate a bit with you. Some of you may have noticed small changes with the layout - that's going to continue when I get more ideas - which is part of the celebration, but there's something more:

Giveaway

This is why I was shopping today, I was choosing a small gift to give to a one lucky reader. And here's what I chose:

Photobucket

2. Follow carefully my posts for this week, as I'll give out ways the get more entries.
3. Become a follower of this blog. That makes an extra entry. (and tell it with a comment so I'll remember to count that too)

The lucky winner will be contacted after the entry time has closed. You can submit entries until Tuesday, 25th October (so you have a week to enter). Winner will be announced here in this blog on Wednesday 26th October, and I'll also contact the winner personally. Everyone is allowed to enter, no matter where you live.

Cooking at Mom and Dad's Place

Hey lovelies,

How was your weekend, and how has your week started? :)

After a weekend of blogging silence, I'm back with some photos :) This time the food inspiration goes (again) to Emily from Cupcakes and Cashmere. She has this awesome pancake (with lemon curd) recipe that I decided to try out. You can find the recipe from her blog, so I won't be putting it here this time. Only difference to the recipe is that I made my lemon curd from scratch.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

I loved all the fresh ingredients, and since I got to use mom's camera instead of my cell phone, I took some photos of the cooking process (and ingredients).

Photobucket

Making my own lemon curd.

Photobucket

Photobucket

I was cooking with this kind of stove. There's just something about cooking with real fire, it makes food that much better. ;)

Photobucket

Put the lemon curd in a bowl, and the funny thing is that it was exactly the same colour as the bowl. It kinda looks like the spoon sinks inside the bowl.

Photobucket

Photobucket

While I was cooking...

Photobucket

...the others were playing with cell phones (mom using my cell, since she really wanted to try out Angry Birds). Dad was out hunting with a bunch of friends, but we saved him a few pancakes as well.

Photobucket

Served the pancakes with raspberries and lemon curd. Yummy!

They were really good! :D

This week, I'm cleaning my body as well as our apartment. I try to go by with 90% veggies and fruits, and 10% meat/chicken/fish. And I'm drinking lots of liquids, as water and this detox tea I bought last week:

It looks so much better than it tastes... :D

And then, Outfit of the day:

This is what I wore while cooking and traveling back home. I had absolutely no make-up for once, so didn't really feel like taking photos, but thought that the outfit was kinda fun (though I had no shoes at this point) so I figured I'd share it with you.

Trousers: ASOS, Belt: GinaTricot, Knit: H&M, White top: GinaTricot, Bracelet: GinaTricot, Flower ring: I think this is from GinaTricot too, but not quite sure..., Necklace: Accessorize, Earrings: so old I have no clue where I bought these.

I had adored that kind of blue trousers for a while now, and finally got them from ASOS. I was wearing them now for the first time, and though they didn't convince me ad much as a good pair of jeans, I kinda liked them. Just a bit tidier shirt and a pair of heels, and it'll look great!

And I also need to fix the trousers a bit as they are just a bit too wide from the waist. (This was the smallest size left, and I thought it'd be okay if they are a bit too big. But it's actually not. :D So it's time for some sewing when I get through the cleaning first...

There'll be some news tomorrow, so stay tuned for that!

Blog ya later, people!
