Meringues
20 pieces
4 egg whites
3 dl sugar (1,25 cups)
bit of food coloring (preferably gel)
Put the egg whites and the sugar in a heat-proof dish, like a steel bowl or a pan. Take another pan, put water in it and heat up to boil. Set the egg white bowl on top of if, and make sure the bowl only has contact to the steam, not the boiling water. Mix up the eggs and the sugar until the mixture is 60 Celsius. Use a thermometer to help you out.
Take the bowl away from heat, and if you used pan for mixing, pour the mixture into a bowl now. Mix with electronic mixer, until cooled down, thick and glossy (around 10 minutes). Add food coloring if you wish, and only mix a little if you want kind of a marbled effect, and a bit more if you want it to get all mixed up.
Put the mixture in a bag, and squeeze into little (or whatever size you wish) meringues. You can also make them by placing small amounts with a spoon. The recipe makes two pans of meringues.
Dry the treats at 100 degrees Celsius, until the meringues are thoroughly dry. Cover up with a baking sheet, if the meringues start to get too much color.
.And that's it. Super simple, only the drying takes a bit of time, but you can for example to a little workout or clean the house while you wait. Below, you can check out the same on a video!
What do you think about this little recipe? And, what's your favorite treat on Christmas? Let me know in the comments!
That's all for this post, I'll be uploading another one pretty soon, and then the 24th will be up tomorrow afternoon. Then it will be time for me to take a break for 2-3 days from blogging (I'll still try to spam Instagram though) before we will get to the NYE stuff to finish off this year. I'm so, so excited! See you around in social media, and also, stay tuned for the two remaining Christmas posts!
Oh, and if you're in the mood for a chocolate recipe, make sure you check out my guest post at My Violet Delights!
Have a fabulous day ♥
