Valentine's Day Nail Inspiration x4

I know we're not in February yet, but I thought some of you out there would want a bit of inspiration for your nails as the Valentine's Day is coming up. After all, it's the perfect excuse to have cute, girly and possibly very pink nails. I came up with few designs I really liked, and they are all different in sense of techniques, difficulty and so on, so I'm hoping there's something for everyone.

v-day mani
The first mani is a simple red gradient with natural nail peeking through and pink little hearts painted over to make the design more Valentine's inspired. For this, you would need two polishes, a little makeup sponge, thin brush and a dotting tool (or pin needle). It's not necessarily difficult in my opinion, and you don't need anything fancy to recreate this.

The polishes I used for these nails were base coat and fast dry top coat by Glisten & Glow, and Flame-Boyant and Feel The Breeze by China Glaze. That's literally it. I sponged the red on the tips to get a gradient, but letting some of the natural nail show because that seemed fun to me. The hearts were painted by painting two dots next to each other with a dotting tool and then connecting them by painting a little triangle (or a v, however you better understand it) under the dots, creating a heart. (You can find tutorials on this if my verbal explanation doesn't cut it!)

This next one is the most complicated out of all four. I wanted to do one that was super cute and girly so I gathered my stamping supplies and layered pink, shimmer and cute designs. And here's how that turned out. I think these nails look lovely, and I had a friend saying they look professionally made which was such a huge compliment to me. Again, it's not a complicated design if you just have the right supplies.

For these nails, I used base coat and fast dry top coat by Glisten & Glow, Pink-ing of You by O.P.I. (not cruelty-free if I've understood correctly, but I will use mine up since it's been bought years ago), Fairy Dust by China Glaze, white stamping polish by Born Pretty Store, and stamping polishes 005 and 006 by Clear Jelly Stamper. The stamping plates I used were m57 by Konad and QA39 by Born Pretty Store.

Next design was only doodling little something on the nails and calling it a day. I went for a design I've seen for years when finding Valentine's Day nail ideas. For this, you need two polishes and a thin brush. I realize mine wasn't the neatest ever, but you could do this as precise or as artsily messy as you like.

I also thought painting a little heart on the thumb would tie this look together, and I still stand by that statement.

The polishes I used for these were base coat and fast dry top coat by Glisten & Glow, and Get It Right, Get It Bright and Flame-Boyant by China Glaze. Hopefully one thing you take away from this post is that sometimes even the fancy nails can be easy to do (not to necessarily say any of mine are super fancy but still). Meaning that don't get discouraged when you see cool art and think you never can do that - as you can never know that until you just try. And in some cases, practice as well.

Lastly, I figured I'd do a set without the usual pink color scheme because we're not all girly girls loving pink. Some of you might prefer a bit more casual colors. So, I came up with this grey set, which is absolutely appropriate for metal girls, for anyone who needs more understated nails to work or someone who just dislikes pink on nails (can't relate but I know there are some of you out there!). I hope this design brings the variety up to everyone's standards. For this, you only need nail polish, sponge, bit of tape and small scissors. You paint your nails as usual, and then cut a heart in the middle of tape, and use the tape as a stencil. Then just sponge in the statement color for the heart and you're done. Easy, right?

For these, I used base coat and fast dry top coat by Glisten & Glow, Street Style Princess, Gossip Over Gimlets, Tropic Of Conversation and All Sun & Games by China Glaze and Greycian Goddess (560) by L'Oreal (not cruelty-free brand, but I did buy this one as well before my cf decision, like the O.P.I. one mentioned previously).

What do you think about these nail designs? And, which one is your favorite? Let me know in the comments!

That's all for today's post, I know it's quite the nail overload but I thought it would be fun to have these all in the same post. Also, as I'm kind of done now with the cutesy heart nails (maybe) I can focus on other kinds of nail art for the near future. (I just got new polishes and I can't wait to do something cool with them!) Next post will be up in a day or two, so stay tuned for that and follow me on Instagram (@silvertigo) in the meantime for daily outfits and more! I'll see you in my next post!

Have a lovely day ♥
