Sometimes you need to think out of the box. Like I did for this prompt of the #clairestelle8march challenge. The prompt was Mermaids & Mermen. I could've done a pretty duochrome thing with scales, but I didn't have the duochromes, no do I have anything to do the scales with. So I had to think differently. So I went on image search on Google and found an amazing gradient, which inspired me to do this design.

I believe the girl whose nails were my inspiration goes on Instagram by the name @lieve91. She had done this beautiful sea and sand colored mani, and I thought it would look lovely with mermaid design. So I did my best to recreate the gradient on my nails.

 

Her nails had a cute pattern over the gradient on the ring finger, but I changed that to be in every finger and added some glitter to the pattern as well. I'd like to think these nails represent a modern mermaid, like a bohemic girl that goes to beach festivals and so on. I don't know if that sounds any right to you guys but that's what I went for.

 

I must say, my stamping has seen better days, but despite I liked this design a lot. I probably need to work more with the soft stamper to get a better control to my technique. The straight lines came out a little wonky but that should be something a bit of practice fixes.

 

The polishes I used for the gradient were One Track Mind, Rain Dance The Night Away, Dope Taupe and What She Dune by China Glaze. The stamping was done with Born Pretty Store stamping polish in white, and the glitter polish is China Glaze Moonlight The Night. Base and top coat were as always from Glisten & Glow.
