I know it might be early for fall favorites, taken that the season just started, but I'm so strongly in the mood that we're doing this. Most likely, knowing myself, the things I'm obsessing about now will be obsession well into November. Because that's how I am.
After you read through the list, I hope you share all your favorites in the comments so I get to know them too!
Knitting is something I do all year round, but I especially love it during colder, darker seasons. I mentioned knitting's possible healing power in this post about anxiety (click!), and I firmly believe in it. Of course as a nice bonus, it's a hobby that creates beautiful things to have around the house (like the decor I showed in the previous post), or to gift to friends. If you at all feel like you can learn knitting or crotchet, try it out. It's one of my deares hobbies ever, and it's very cozy in the cold days when you can snuggle in a blanket, put Netflix on and just knit away.
And speaking of Netflix, I recently started watching something my friend Vita (stalk her Instagram here) recommended to me a while back. Lucifer. It's about devil taking a vacation from Hell in Los Angeles, and the series is filled with sarcasm and dark humor wrapped into a crime show, which I absolutely love. I've gotten so many giggles out of the series even on the bad days, so I can warmly recommend this. And in case Lucifer seems too intense as it's related to bible tales, my second suggestion would be the Dynasty reboot, which has family feud, business drama and fabulous outfits.
When watching series, one might get the urge to snack on something. I'm going to sound like a basic white bish, but one of my preferred fall drinks is pumpkin spice latte. I make my own not only for economical reasons but also so I know exactly what goes into them. I have previously posted a recipe for a latte here (click!), which I still approve, but will also be posting one including real pumpkin a bit later in the fall, so stay tuned for it!
Although most of my fall reading will consist of school materials, these two are something I plan on eyeing throughout the season. Cupcakes and Cashmere is an older favorite and I love to get inspired by it to this day. It has hosting, decor, beauty and fashion tips divided by seasons, and Emily was one of my first blogging idols, so this book is many ways dear to me. The New Fashion Rules is something I got for my birthday this year, and while I haven't gotten around to read it with thought, I love the themes in it.
If you've been here more than a minute, you knew this would be coming, right? I love nail polish, and while I don't really believe in assigning certain colors for certain seasons, I do notice myself gravitating towards different colors in different seasons. For fall, those colors are mustards, oranges, reds and plum shades. But I honestly wear anything I feel like for the day. The shades you can see here are Great Balancing Act by Glisten & Glow, and Mustard The Courage, Ernie Your Stripes, Beak On Fleek, Home Sweet House Music, Stoked To Be Soaked, Flame-Boyant and Ruby Pumps by China Glaze. (These polishes will be featured in an upcoming nail art post, so stay tuned for that too!)
Other category where the fall colors come in is makeup. For a beautiful fall makeup, my favorites would be either of these Velour Liquid Lipsticks (shades Triggered and Hi, How Are Ya?), the Alien Palette, and Skin Frost in shade Ice Cold, all by Jeffree Star Cosmetics. I might be obsessed by his products because they are (at least according to my experience) high quality, cruelty-free and independently owned, so a company like L'Oreal (who isn't still cruelty-free!) doesn't get a cut from the sales. But preaching aside, I really do love the JSC products a ton, it's one of my absolute favorites brands in the world right now. For fall makeup inspiration, check out this post where I share my take on a wearable fall look.
Socks, socks for days. There aren't many things cuter than layering socks or tight with lace, print or something like that when it's fall. Pinterest is full of cute outfit inspiration, most of which have either denim shorts or a skater skirt and then cute tights or tall socks paired with them. It's kind of all I want to wear until it gets too cold here in Finland, and I also really want to knit another pair of these tall cuties, maybe even over the knee length ones!
Lastly, something I think I mention as favorites every single year, but oh well... Candles. I love candles in fall and winter, seeing a live flame makes my heart happy, they make me feel cozy and I sometimes have slightly scented ones, which totally set a fun fall mood. My ultimate favorites are vanilla scented ones, those are neutral enough to not give most people headache but they are also sweet, cute and atmospheric
