Food For Thought: Gluten Free Living ♥

Hey guys!

How are you dolls? ♥

Today I wanted to talk about living life gluten free. Last summer, I was diagnosed with celiac disease, which is an autoimmune disease where your body can't tolerate certain crops, mainly wheat, barley and rye. Also some can get symptoms from oats, especially if it isn't clean enough from remains of other crops. The reason I got diagnosed was that I had been suffering from a bad stress and heart problems, and while my doctor wanted to check my thyroid values, I figured it would be wise to do the celiac test too as we have that in our family.

When I finally got the results, it was obvious that both my thyroid values and celiac antibody were all wrong. So I had to get a medication and start a new diet. Well, I had hoped for a fresh start to my school since the stress peak, but I hadn't exactly hoped for that. The good news were that my anxiety wasn't as bad as I had thought, my stress was actually tolerable and my heart is totally healthy.

But then the reality was that I had to learn to eat all differently. I know it's such a small thing for being healthy - and that many even do that for fun or to feel better even though they don't need gluten free diet - but it still has been a little challenge. I have had to give up some snacks and foods I used to love, but I will get used to that. For a girl that has never followed a diet in her life (except for a treat free month once when I was a teen), this is a challenge. Truly. Even though I now have to be so much more careful and even picky about what I eat, this hasn't been too overwhelming.

Sure, I have actually grieved some foods that I can't now eat (Kinder Bueno bars, I will love you dearly, but I can't be with you anymore. It's not you, it's me.), and literally cried over them. First world problems, I know. But that has allowed me to move on with my new lifestyle, which is gluten free. Luckily, the products are mostly very delicious - or thank God I love all the food, either way - so that the change hasn't been too though. I never thought I would write about diet in my life, but since t least in Finland the gluten free way seems to be very popular topic, I figured I should write something abou my own experiences.

What I think is good about this is that at least this disease doesn't require any other medicine than food. And when I try to make more and more myself, I can also be sure that what I put in my mouth is actually healthy as well. Making gluten free food is mostly very easy, the hard stuff is actually only in the baking - and I've seen people making quite the master pieces, so I'm not even worried about that. This year, I'm hoping to learn to make proper oat bread, and to bake few different sweet pastries. If I can accomplish that, everything else is just an added bonus.

So how do I feel about my new diet?

Good.

I haven't felt this great in a while, I have more energy, I don't constantly feel ill, I don't get bloated. And that is with six months of eating right. The next six months, I will be adding pure water and fresh veggies in the mix more than before, so that should be fun as well. Even though my diet sometimes feels like trouble for me and others, I still know it's the best thing for me and my body.

And that, I wouldn't change.

Do you have any thoughts or questions about gluten free diet, or would you maybe like to see recipes that go for this diet? Let me know so in the comments below ♥

Our Christmas ♥

Hello lovelies!

I hope you're having a fun day today! ♥

So today was the first day of school this spring (though it's still winter outside), and I gotta say I got bit hyped already about what we have coming. I know it sounds probably silly to be excited abut school, but the project class I'm taking sounds so, so promising with it's subject. Later this spring, I will be sharing some stuff regarding that here, as some of you might be quite interested in it. At least that's what we're hoping for.

Anyways, this time I figured I would share pictures of our Christmas time with you. There's mostly just food and such, so if you're more into girly stuff, you better wait for the next one. See how our Christmas looked below:

Happy in my H&M Christmas sweater. I'm so, so happy we got white Christmas, even though NYE was black and wet. But at least Christmas looked wonderfully traditional so I could totally get my mind off school things.

And the nails I totally failed to photograph other than with the cell phone. FAIL. I was seriously feeling too good without my camera and laptop.

And the beauty of Finnish winter on our way back home. See why I love snow?

So yeah, that pretty much sums up our quiet Christmas. We were spending it on my parents', and we saw some of our friends while we were there, which was pretty nice. Mostly I just enjoyed eating and getting to be free from most of the technology (excluding my phone, as I'm way too addicted to that).

This new year I have started with getting more organized at home - meaning that tomorrow, Saturday, I'm planning on getting up quite early, getting some essay reading done and starting writing the essay itself. And after that, running errands and getting some organization supplies, so that I can get my sewing and crafting stuff neatly organized once and for all. This year, I'm feeling I can finally get together my organizing skills both at home and in life, which feels like such a relief. And as usual, I'm yet again trying to declutter, because I still feel I have way too much unnecessary stuff in my life.

How has your year started so far? Let me know in the comments below!

Now, I'm going to have a little moment all to myself and watch some How I Met Your Mother reruns from the laptop. It's the perfect ending for the lovely ordinary day I've been having today.

Have a fantastic day ♥

Red Lips ♥

Hello lovelies!

How are you all? ♥

I know I meant to write more this week, but this time, the reason is fun news even for you: I got a new laptop, and all day today, I've been installing a ton of things to it so that I can transition from this old one to working with that. It's light, it's silent and it works so fast! I love it so far so much. So, it's over 1 am now that I got into writing, but better late than never, right?

Today, I wanted to show this little makeup look I created with Makeup Revolution palettes and other affordable stuff. I was thinking this would be my NYE look, but we ended p staying in so I didn't have any special look for that. Had we gone out, I would've looked like this.

So red lips, winged eyeliner and neutral eye shadow accompanied with curly hair. I even put on false lashes, but as you can see I fail with them a lot. I should get a proper glue and shorter lashes and maybe then that would work nicely. Before that, I will prefer what mother nature has given me.

What kind of makeup have you been into lately? Comment below and let me know! ♥

Now, I will watch some How I Met Your Mother and continue prepping my new tool, and hopefully at the end of this week I will be blogging with it. Cross your fingers!

Have a fancy day, dolls!

Rosy Gold vs. Snowflakes ♥

Happy New Year lovelies!

How are you all? ♥

So I had a little bit of a blogging break over the holidays, as I wanted to not use the laptop too much because I get to do that a ton at school anyways. But as I need to get to my book essay soon, I figured I would start doing blog things again as well. And don't be afraid, I'm still much into blogging - even though I was a bit tired of computers for a little while. It feels so good to start writing again as I have so much I wanna get out there for the blog and all. And this year will get started with a nail art post, where I will show you two different glitter nails.

First up is a very classic and simple glitter gradient in baby pink and rose gold. I topped this one with matte top coat, as that simply felt like a right thing to do for this mani.

The polishes I used here were China Glaze Spring In Step and Essie Rock At The Top. The matte top coat is from Born Pretty Store.

I really enjoyed this simple mani for a change, as I have been creating many more intricate ones throughout the year. Sometimes less is more, as they say. To my eye, this is absolutely beautiful in its simplicity.

As a second mani, I wanted to share this blue snowflake design I created last month. It was my first attempt on stamping in a long, long while, and to my amazement, it went kinda well.

The polishes I used here were China Glaze One Track Mind, Chillin' With My Snow-Mies and Snow Globe. For stamping I used Konad plate M59 and China Glaze White On White.

I personally think this is my favorite of this winter's manicures I've done so far, and would have gladly worn it longer. The dark blue base and glitter helped creating an effect of snowing - you know, the way falling snow glimmers when the light hits it. I really loved how these nails looked, and would be happy to do these to anyone. Any takers?

So there we have it, the first post of 2015. I hope you guys enjoyed this as much as I was excited to write it. I can promise you a lot of fun posts this year, and that can serve as my only New Year's resolution as I don't tend to make those. Like my friend Rachella put it on Instagram, I'm not one to wait for the new year to make changes, but instead fix what I don't like as soon as I can.

But, how did you like these nails? Let me know in the comments below!

I'm gonna go do some blog reading now, if you fancy more nail stuff, make sure to check my first attempt on nail art video from the previous post (click here) and let me know what you think. (Besides the obvious which I that I need better filming lights.) I'll be back tomorrow with some makeup stuff, and on Tuesday I will talk to you about how we spent our holidays.

Have a fabulous day ♥

Let's be friends in IG!
