Our Weekend Trip to Helsinki

Hey lovelies!

How was your weekend like? Where did you go, what did you do, did you meet amazing people? :)

Like you might have read from the previous posts, I was in Helsinki the whole weekend, visiting my fiance's uncle. He lives alone so we love to go and spend some time with him every once in a while. And I must say, he's pretty cool. So, this post is all about our weekend trip. (Outfit and nails can be found from the very bottom of this post, along with my weekend haul.)

We started our trip on Friday night, on 8pm or something like that. The drive from Tampere to Helsinki is somewhat 2 hours, so it's an easy trip. At least, for a someone like me who's used to travel in car even very long distances for as long as I can remember.

Photobucket

Picture above is what you get when trying to "just quickly take a photo" from a moving vehicle...

Needless to say, our Friday was just about traveling. Saturday, on the other hand, was completely for shopping, eating and having a fabulous time. Which we sure did.

Helsinki was showing its foggy side that day, which I was kinda glad about because I had too thick coat with me the whole trip. But I hoped I could take at least somewhat nice pictures for you all. So here's a little sneak peek of the city of Helsinki:

Photobucket

Like I told, foggy. It's around 11am here, even though I think it looks more like 8am.

Photobucket

Helsinki railway station. One of the buildings that are most easy to recognize in Helsinki. I really like the architecture of it, and will take better pictures of it on Summer. :)

We didn't eat too big of a breakfast, and very soon after we hit the shops, my fiance said he was starving. So I promised he can pick a place and I'd buy him a brunch. (He's adorable enough to get super happy about little things like that ♥)

Photobucket

My not-too-glamorous brunch. But hey, it was a smoked salmon baguette. :D

We spent 5-6 hours walking around shops of Helsinki, and I was really proud of myself for only buying 4 things. Yes, girls, I'm serious. I have finally found my self-control, and I couldn't be more proud. :D

Anyway, moving on.

At Saturday night, we and uncle decided to eat out on a Japanese restaurant called Koto. They have amazing food, fantastic staff and an inspiring decor. I'm still a bit unsure of myself with my camera, and I try to take my pictures in a way that it doesn't disturb anyone. So, I don't know, tell me if my photos are uninspiring or something. :D
  Photobucket

Who would't want to eat here?

I think I haven't told you yet, but I have this thing about origamis. I think they're super adorable, and I love absolutely any place that has them as a decoration. As a kid, I used to know like three shapes by heart, and made them a lot. (Ladies and gentlemen, that's called "only-child-syndrome". It's totally harmless.)

Photobucket

This charming detail was right next to our table.

Now here's a place where there should be a picture of an amazing portion of sushi. We all know there's none. Why?

Because this blogger here has an addiction to sushi. I literally forget everything else when getting some sushi in front of me. I had put my camera into my bag while waiting the food, and then, it just stayed there. Halfway through my food I finally gained back my sense and realized I'd forgotten something important. Oh, well.

It was delicious, anyway.

Photobucket

A dessert, orange-white wine sorbet. ♥

I can't really tell you how tasty this little treat was... Give me anything with white wine in it, and I'll love it. (Oops, I think that sounded bad... All the readers under the age, let me assure you, I'm 21 years already, so I'm allowed to have my wine ;))

On Sunday, I got a wake-up call from Formula 1 cars. My fiance is a huge fan of the sport, and watches every race, so he was easily up when the time was to start the show (7am). I, on the other hand, had been up until 2am, talking to few friends on FB chat. So, I was not too energetic even though I enjoy my F1 as much as anyone. But I kinda watched through the GP half sleeping...

I'll be a better girlfriend next weekend.

Later, we had a late lunch in a little restaurant called Britannia (Britain). Once again I liked the decor, even though (or maybe because) it reminded me of pubs.

   Photobucket

Is it totally weird that I find this charming?

  Photobucket

If I had a super big house with a basement, I'd totally make it into a bar like this (without the random people, of course). How awesome would that be?

  Photobucket

A small meal for my man ♥ (I could never eat that much on one meal, I'd explode.)

  Photobucket

My grilled steak with veggies and fries. Loved it.

We headed back home a little after we had finished our meal, and that was the end of that lovely little trip. I had two very different outfits for the weekend, and on this post, I'm showing you the first of them.

Outfit of the day

PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket

Blazer: H&M
Top: H&M
Shorts: SpiritStore
Tights: Pieces (Only)
Boots: Tunnelin Kenkä
Necklace: H&M
Earrings: Seppälä

This is what I considered as a great outfit for shopping and eating out, and as I am eager to take out all my Summer clothes already, I was once again layering with shorts. I love these denim shorts to bits, just because of their stud detailing. As the outfit was pretty simple, I thought adding a couple of statement accessories would make it totally fabulous. For me, it looks cool.

What are your thoughts?

Then, to my mini haul. I was a bit surprised myself that I didn't manage to spend more money while shopping. Usually my shopping ends up with a lot of bags and a pretty empty wallet. But not this time, which I consider a good thing. :)

Photobucket

A pair of shoes from SpiritStore (that's right, I have the exact same shoes in brown, as well), a floral bracelet from JC, mint shorts from Zara, and a wallet from Accessorize.

I had been looking for a new wallet for a while now, and was super glad to find a perfect one this weekend. The other ones weren't as crucial, but totally something I can build outfits around. :)

With my nails, I was feeling like going pink this time. So, this is what I came up with:

Manicure of the day

Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket

A kind of half-and-half manicure with two totally different pink shades. I used Mavala nail polishes 75 Miami, and Stockholm. To add some bling, I finished it off with the Make Up Store polish 002 Asun Sparkling.

What do you think of this one?

So, kind of a long post this time, sorry if it's too long. I just couldn't figure out a smart place to cut this, so I posted all I had. Except the another outfit.

I hope your week will be starting amazingly!

Blog ya later,

xoxo

Johanna

Ps. Did you notice the new "Awards" page? ;)
