Just Hold Your Head Up High

Hey my lovely readers,

It's time to get back to regular posting :)

How are you all? ♥ Has your weekend started well?

Mine has, I woke up today and noticed one of my closest friends had called. So I immediately called her back, and I feel so great about it, as she really was in need of that phone call. I guess she knew I was thinking about her a couple of nights before, we're a bit connected like that. ;) She's been through a lot lately, and I'm so super proud of her for making it through all healthy and well.

I will respect her privacy with not mentioning any details about the whole situation, let alone her name, but I know you'll all understand that. But the reason I mentioned this is that the friend in question is the one who's really taught me you can make it through anything when you just have a strong mind and people who love you.

That's it sweetie, I love you. Always, always remember that, okay? ♥ Hold your head up high, and believe in yourself, because there's nothing, and no one, who can stop you from achieving the happiness you truly deserve. Life may kick your ass from time to time, but that's what makes us stronger, right? ;)

Today really has been one of those days when you look at your life, and say to yourself how you wouldn't change a thing about it. As I'm now sitting on the floor, typing this on my laptop, I hear my fiance playing some silly war game on the PC, and it just makes me smile. In the middle of the huge stress I'm having constantly because of the school and finals, he's the one who can truly make me forget my troubles with just one look.

And that's just so amazing.

What are the things currently making you smile, or feel love in your life? I'd love to hear from you, so share your happy thoughts.

I thought that today I'd share with you an outfit I wore earlier this week, when we Finns were celebrating Vappu. Vappu is a Finnish word for May Day, or Labor Day, and it's celebrated 1st of May every year. It's a national holiday, so everyone gets a day off then. This year, we spend it by having a lunch with my fiance's parents in a lovely theater restaurant, Tillikka, which was fully packed with people in party spirits - in other words, pretty drunk people. But at least everyone seemed happy and no one started a fight despite the alcohol.

So here's what I was wearing for the lunch:

Dress: H&M
Lace leggings: GinaTricot
Cropped leather jacket: VILA
Wedges: SpiritStore
Bow belt: SpiritStore
Necklace: from a relative
Pearl bracelet: mom's old
Gold bracelet: Pieces
Scarf: mom's old

I believe some of you may be wondering what's up with the hat here. The hat is a symbol we have in Finland for you passing matriculation examination in upper secondary school. In Vappu, everyone tends to wear their own hat if they've graduated from there. So, in short, that's what's up with the hat. Otherwise, what I can say about the look is that I just used the celebration as an opportunity to wear a pretty dress.

How do you like this look? And, does your country have a equivalent for Vappu?

I was also being pretty festive with my nails - and encouraging my growing animal print obsession, as you can see below:

Multicolored leopard manicure. ♥ I loved this so, so much.

I was using the nail polishes above: IsaDora's nr 653 Yellow Mellow as the base, Konad's black special polish for stamping the base print, and spiced it up with the gorgeous colors from Depend, Mavala and GinaTricot.

So, is it too many leopard print manicures already? And even if it is, how does this one look?

Now, I'm going to work on a skirt I've planned to do many times already, but I'll be back with comments for your blogs later ;) I hope you'll all enjoy what's left of your weekend - I sure will, as on Monday, I'll have the biggest exam of my school year, and I have to be mentally prepared for that. :)

Blog ya later!

xoxo

Johanna

  1. Love the dress!!
We have something similar here in Greece too, put we also go out and pick up flowers.
In Nigeria I remember there was also a kind of Parade every may 1st and also a match pass.
Love your strength and of course life is always full of ups and downs, we just have to keep moving and remember no condition is permanent.
More strength to you and your dear friend, just stick by her and remind her that crying may last for a night, but Joy comes in the morning , this too shall pass.
    Kisses darling!
