Hey lovelies and welcome to a scheduled post I prepped for you so that you will have content even when my workdays are long and I can't be sure if I have the time to write anything. Today, I've been on a worktrip to another city for our customer event, and I'm predicting I won't have the energy to sit on the computer after the thing. So, I wrote this one already on Tuesday together with 5 other posts to keep you entertained for a while. Hope you like that.

But now, let's get into the nail art!

I finally got my work week done, and it's time for the 4-day weekend (yay!) which will include having a great time with both of our families and such. That means I'll spend tomorrow cleaning the apartment and sorting out my closet and all things like that.

Also, it's been snowing today, which seems weird, but if the forecasts are correct, after this it should get all warmer and spring-like. I really hope so, because I have a ton of outfit ideas but I need warmer weather to actually wear them outside. ;)

Anyway, today I really wanted to share some nail art with you. If some of you are wondering why I have them almond shaped nowadays, it's because squares are simply too fragile to work. The corners get all chipped off and they lose their shape. So I decided I'd get rid of the squares for as long as I work where I work now, and maybe give them another try later on. But I gotta say I've been loving this shape more than  thought.



But, to the art. First up we have this purple gradient with a matte finish that I loved so, so much. I've never been a big fan of purple but on nails it kind of fascinates me a lot.





The polishes I used were China Glaze White On White, Sweet Hook, Charmed, I'm Sure, Grape Pop, Spontaneous, Glitz'N Pieces, and L'Oreál Color Riche 916 Confettis. The matte top coat used is from Born Pretty Store (their own top coat), and the studs are also from there.



Here I also tried the sponges included in the China Glaze Ombré Kit. As I expected, they're not as great as your usual makeup sponges, so if you're into trying out gradient, just trust the makeup sponges.





The other one today is just a simple glitter bomb I threw together for Oscars. I wanted something that has anything to do with the event, and so I decided on lots and lots of glitter.



The polishes I used for this glitter madness are China Glaze Smoke And Ashes, Fairy Dust and Snow Globe. I'm still on the fence whether I actually like this mani of not, but it really has nice elements to it.





The pictures don't really give justice to the glitter, but you know, it's nearly impossible to photo anyway. I love the way the multicolored glitter comes alive on top of the dark polish. Under, you can see a picture with flash just to get a better idea about the glitter. (Gosh, I totally need to learn how to photograph it.)



But that's it for today. I would really like to know what you guys think about these nails, and if you want, you can give suggestions about themed manis you'd like to see here so I can create tutorials for them. ;)

Who else watched the Olympics this weekend? I was so excited about the ice hockey medal games - and for those who don't follow sports, team Finland won bronze against team USA which was quite an achievement for the team, even if we had Selänne, Timonen, Salo and other awesome players. I'm so proud of the team, it was great experience for the young players and a great way from some of the older ones to end their journey in the national team. So again, thank you team Finland, thank you Teemu Selänne, and Tuukka Rask, you rock! Awesome playing.

Also I'm so happy for team Canada for winning the gold, totally deserved win!

Luckily, after a week it's time for the Oscars, so I don't have the time to be upset about the Olympic hockey to be over. I need to make some great food and such for the event - hopefully I can make a themed post before Sunday about the snacks and stuff so maybe you can enjoy the same things I do. ;)

But anyways, now to the real topic today, nails:



First up is this pretty detailed burgundy-gold-navy mani I created last month. And it's appropriately shot with a golden jewelry, haha.



I'm not sure where I was going with this mani, but apparently I tried many things that happily go together well.





The polishes I used for this mani are Essie Thigh High, China Glaze Goldie But Goodie, Essie Liqorice and Ciaté Power Dressing. The giraffe print is from a Born Pretty Store plate QA25, and the gold studs as well as the hexagon glitters are also from Born Pretty Store. Our next contestant is this very simple purple mani, where I used different glitter polishes and made them matte so that they wouldn't be so typical glitter manis.





I absolutely love the colors here, they work pretty nicely together. And this shows that sometimes simple works even more nicely than detailed. I think.



The polishes used here are China Glaze Lovely Lilac, China Glaze Your Present Required, China Glaze Charmed, I'm Sure, China Glaze Be Merry, Be Bright, Essie A Cut Above and L'Oreal Color Riche Confettis.



So that's all I have for you today, now the only question remains:

We just received our visitors K and her man, and had a late dinner with them. From now on, there will be a weekend-long radio silence (except for a short post tomorrow), as I will concentrate on entertaining  our guests. If you want to, you can tag along on our weekend via Instagram (@silvertigo) where I'll be posting little bits and pieces on the way.

But now, today's subject: Nails. Again, I have two different manicures, and I would like to hear your thoughts about them. ;)



First up, simple deep purple manicure with some rhinestones.





The polish used here is China Glaze Charmed, I'm Sure. Can you believe I used only one color in a manicure? Me neither.



See the difference between the shine of the clear rhinestone and the colorful ones? It's because the clear is made for nail art, and the colorful ones are not - they're just normal craft glam. Like I've mentioned before, they don't behave nearly as well with nail polish.





With the other mani, we'll go to very different colors. The gorgeous neon orange felt like a perfect pair for silver glitter and glam.



Again, I played with simplicity, just some glitter and rhinestones.



The polishes used here are China Glaze Sun Of A Peach, China Glaze Gossip Over Gimlets and Essie Set In Stones. I personally love how sunny and bright Sun Of A Peach is, and it is such a perfect summer color - but for me, it works in fall as well.





So, too different manis, in very different colors. And now, I wanna hear from you:

First, choose your desired color scheme. I went for purple this time, with a little hint of blue. The pic above was the inspiration, and then it was time to take out the colors.



I chose a range of purple, pink and blue, and reserved a white polish and glitter for detailing. Note! You'll also need a thin brush, sponge, dotting tool and nail polish remover.



Start off with painting the base for your art, using the base coat (not pictured). Then, paint your nails with the desired base color. I needed a dark plum base, but as I don't have a polish of that color, I made a shade myself, using Essie - Licorice and Ciaté Mini - Cabaret.



So, this is the shade I had as the base.



Next, take the sponge, and your white polish. I used Essie - Blanc.



Sponge out random shapes to each nail. This will help the lighter colors to show on top of the dark base.



Take out the bright pink. I used two different ones, Gosh - Pink Lady (in the pictures), and China Glaze - Escaping Reality.



So, use the darker pink first, and sponge it on the edge of the white shapes.



Next, take the lighter pink, and sponge it in the middle of the white shapes, starting from the edge of the other pink. Don't worry about covering all the white, it gives the art more dimension if the white shows somewhere.



Now, take your blue polish. I used China Glaze - Splish Splash.



Sponge the blue to the edge that is still left white. You should now have somewhat gradient finish on your nails, in various shapes.

Then take out the white again, and with a small dotting tool, create "stars" (dots) randomly around the nails. Then, using the thin brush, paint few more cross-like stars.



Finish off with a glitter polish or two. I used Rimmel London - Disco Ball and China Glaze - Fairy Dust. Add the glitter wherever you think your design should have more stars.



Add a top coat to protect your design, and clean up the cuticles with nail polish remover. And, you're done!
