2019 Recap

It's the time of the year again to go through my bucketlist of 2019 and see all that happened and didn't happen. I had a rough end of the year with a family member passing suddenly in September, and it definitely affected my final 4 months of the year. Therefore I didn't manage to be as productive as I would've hoped, but I have been feeling better now which I hope will result into more balanced and more productive days.

Jeffree Star Conspiracy Palette Review

Hello from your inconsistent blogger friend. The end of the year has felt like a whirlwind and therefore keeping up a blogging schedule has seemed like an impossible task. But since I'm sure many of you have had a busy season too, you probably haven't had time to miss my posts too much. And to shamelessly self-promote, you can always find me on Instagram. I'm pretty active there more or less daily and was just scheming for upcoming things next year.

Anyway, let's get into the reason why you most likely clicked on this post. The infamous Conspiracy Palette. I was going to do a first impression on it, but since it's been a couple of months since the release, this turned into an actual review. Hope this will help you out in case you missed the first launch and are figuring out whether or not get it. And also at the end, there are examples on how to use the palette in case you need inspiration.

Unicorn Brownies

Oh my gosh am I late with this post. I meant to put it up last week, but so much has been up in my life that honestly I struggle keeping up with everything. But since I am baking these again today, it feels appropriate to post the recipe for you as well. The original recipe (in Finnish) is from K-Ruoka and you can check it out here (click!), but I did mine gluten-free as necessary, and the modified recipe can be found below in English.

I had a ton of fun baking this and it turned out so well, which is uncommon for me if I just switch the flour instead of finding an actually gluten-free recipe to follow.

Tips on Colorful Makeup

Since I took a few days off from writing, today I'm combining Support Sunday and Makeup Monday (but yet posting on Tuesday, sorry for confusing everyone!) to share not only my tips and tricks to wearing colorful makeup, but also a youtuber that inspires my makeup a lot. If that's something you'd love to hear, keep on reading!

How to Stay Productive on Shorter Days

Today's topic is another one I'm quite passionate about, and that's how to be productive even when on this hemisphere the days are getting shorter and the lack of daylight can make one tired and unmotivated. If that's something you struggle with, I'm here to share my tips on how I stay grinding even when it feels a little hard. Now, since the internet promotes the unhealthy 24/7 grind, my responsibility to you is to say that my tips and tricks are not supposed to, by any means, encourage you to an unhealthy grind, especially not long-term. But rather, this should be helping you to have a lifestyle that supports you to reach your goals and dreams.

Does that sound good to you? If it does, keep on reading!

Shane Dawson Mini Controversy First Impressions

Today's post is something I didn't even dream of being able to do this quickly but lucky for us my boyfriend is an MVP and manage to get his hands on the Shane Dawson Mini Controversy Palette that Shane released in collaboration with Jeffree Star Cosmetics (in case your not familiar in happenings of the beauty world for some reason). So today, we're diving into the palette and talking about my first impressions with it. As for the bigger palette, I'll cover that one once my order arrives, which could take a week or two taken how many orders they have to process. And like you may have gathered in social media and/or trying to buy the products yourself, the launch was an apocalypse. But apparently I managed to grab things for me and my bestie, which is amazing and I'm especially stoked I could get her something she has waited forever even though it was stressful and made me broke.

Anyway, let's talk about the one thing I do have already:

Support Sunday: Real Life Disney Princess Lizzie

You know how I talked about re-thinking my content and what post which day in my post on Wednesday? Well today, we will start the hopefully uplifting series called Support Sunday, where I encourage you to get to  know the people who inspire me in my life one way or another. Many of them will be people who are way popular than me and while they may not need a shoutout from a small platform such as my blog/insta, they may inspire at least one new person through these introductions, and that's more than I could ever ask for.

The first person I would like to give praise to is Elizabeth Hugen, the amazing woman behind the blog Lizzie in Lace. She is style-wise best described as real life Disney princess, but looks aren't certainly all this power house of a woman has to give. I've had the pleasure of knowing her for years, and seeing her platforms grow and her getting to have amazing experiences and opportunities through blogging and social media. I've followed her adventures on fashion weeks, read her stories about personal growth and hard times, and celebrated in my thoughts with her as she has reached milestones and accomplished wonderful things in life.

Owl Nails

Long time, no nail art - even on my Instagram - but here we go again. These nails I did already at the end of September so that should tell you how incative I've been. I always have my nails painted but just haven't felt like sharing them. Until now, when the Fleeky Friday is upon us. If you don't know what Fleeky Friday is, don't worry, you've only missed yesterday's post. I recently decided to develop my blog a little more after the month long break giving me perspective on what I want to do, and I decided we would have dedicated weekdays for different topics. Fridays will now on be Fleeky Fridays, and whenever I post on Friday, it will be about nails, hair, beauty or fashion - or anything that can be on fleek. But I assume it will mostly be nails, knowing myself.

Happy Halloween (and where have I been)

Hey my loves, it's been a while. I've had to put my life first and my internet life second for a bit, hence why I skipped my favorite blogging season this year. For my family's privacy, I don't want to get in too deep about things, but our family lost a member in September very suddenly. While I usually don't go into all the bad things that goes on in my life, as I want this space to be positive and inspiring, and don't really know if sharing my struggles really is that.

So this little hiatus was me trying to cope with the loss, be there for my family, but also for re-balance my life. Which I can happily announce I've done. There were great ideas for Halloween posts, but I'll save the timeless ones for next year when we can do this better. However today, I wanted to come here and share snapshots of our Halloween decor and let you in the loop what's been going on.

Mustard Nails

Happy Tuesday lovelies! Well okay, Tuesday's are still not my cup of tea, but that doesn't mean I don't know how to enjoy one when it hits. I mean it is there every given week, after all. Today, I'm giving you more fall nail art inspiration, in the form of simple but cute mustard nails.

So without further ado, let's get into it:

Thrifting The Trends: AW/19 - Dark Arts

You know the feeling when there's a trend that inspires you more than the rest? That's me every time something remotely rock vibed comes in fashion. So it probably comes as no surprise that I was really excited to see things along the title's vibe hitting the runways. I also love that Vogue called it Dark Arts because that's very Hogwarts of them. Unlike usually, this time I'm doing two looks for the trend. I saw too much inspiration to do just one, so you'll get two for the price of one. Dark Arts trend is the kind of punk-vibed, rock-inspired trend that is expected to be a thing at some point this season, in case the title isn't descriptive enough.

If you didn't follow this series on Spring and Summer, this is a series where I take trends predicted on fashion week, and show you how to recreate the looks or the trends for less, with items you may already have in your closet. I'm not allowed to buy brand new items for this unless I get it from a thrift store and I can't buy for this at all unless they are things I would buy regardless. As an inspiration, I use the Vogue article here and Pantone article here. The Pantone colors can also be found in this Pinterest post if you prefer more mobile-friendly guide to colors.

(Water)Fall Nail Art

Happy Monday my lovelies! I know there are many of you that absolutely loathe Mondays, but I'm that freak who flourish on Mondays. I feel each given Monday is a chance to have a better week than it was before, do better than one did previous week, and to simply have a tiny new start. I know it might be nauseatingly optimistic but that's my mindset. But to be perfectly honest, I personally hate Tuesdays. They mostly don't bring good things my way in general and they are the day things go wrong if they're ever going to. Not that even that would stop me from reaching my dreams.

Today, I'm sharing a manicure I felt, and still feel a little conflicted about. I could've done it better, it could've looked cuter, but then again I also got compliments for it so it's probably not as bad as my personal judgement makes it out to be. But, without further ado, let's get into the nail art:

Thrifting The Trends: AW19/20 - Color Crush

On Wednesdays, we wear pink. Except that it's Friday and I wore this look on Tuesday... Oh well, I tried. Today, I'm sharing another catwalk-inspired look completely done with what I already have, and proving that you too can be effortlessly stylish without breaking the bank and possibly without even buying anything new.

If you didn't follow this series on Spring and Summer, this is a series where I take trends predicted on fashion week, and show you how to recreate the looks or the trends for less, with items you may already have in your closet. Fall Favorites 2019

I know it might be early for fall favorites, taken that the season just started, but I'm so strongly in the mood that we're doing this. Most likely, knowing myself, the things I'm obsessing about now will be obsession well into November. Because that's how I am.

After you read through the list, I hope you share all your favorites in the comments so I get to know them too!

DIY Autumn Photo Decor

This new season feels like it deserves some new photo props. I haven't ever been big on getting stuff just for pics, but I thought if I find a sustainable way to do it, I will. And while looking for inspiration and after that trying to find places to buy props, it hit me: I could DIY them. I always have yarn around anyway and Pinterest is full of autumnal ideas and free patterns, so why not crotchet and knit my props.

And that's how we got props seen in below picture:

Polka Dot Pretty

Feeling girly today? Because we will look into some quite girly nail art today. If you follow me on Instagram you've probably seen me wear this polka dot blouse a few times lately, which is kind of what inspired this mani. I feel like polka dots fit autumn well - but then again, it's a classic pattern so it fits all the seasons probably just as well. Anyway, I wanted to do something cute around polka dots and this is what I created.

Thrifting The Trends: AW19/20 - Statement Tights

Craving for more trend inspiration? I got you covered today. Today we're exploring one way to style statement tights, and I can give ideas how to have a more office-appropriate approach to this trend in case what is shown here doesn't cut it for your life.

If you didn't follow this series on Spring and Summer, this is a series where I take trends predicted on fashion week, and show you how to recreate the looks or the trends for less, with items you may already have in your closet. Today's post is super short and sweet, just to tell you this furball in the picture turns two today. So, instead of being online the whole day, I'm doing things with him and making sure he has the best day of the year.

Fall Makeup Inspiration

Let's talk more about the creative stuff, okay? Because with autumn vibes often comes the autumn makeup inspiration. Even though I'm still not one to believe in some colors to only be appropriate in certain seasons, I do sometimes gravitate towards seasonal things after seeing so much of it in social media. And bit of seasonal inspo is so much fun, right?

Foxy Fall Nails

New season, new nail art. Whos's excited? Because I am. I've talked about this on my Insta briefly, but autumn time makes me feel more alive and creative. So it's no wonder this feels like a time to bring you new nail art. And while this is being posted, I'm working on the next design, so if you like nail art, no worries, there will be more. But let's first get to today's design:

Chunky Knits and Leather Skirts = Autumn Inspiration

You know how in my last outfit post the lighting was shit? Well, today that isn't an issue because I utilized the outdoors and the natural daylight to make the pictures pretty. Something I must do more before the days get too short to take any pics without artificial lights. Anyway, you probably aren't here for lighting talk, but rather to see the outfits, so let's get into that.

My Cruelty-Free Skincare Routine

Heya babes, Let's talk about skincare, shall we? Skin is our biggest organ, so taking care of it - especially if it gets exposed constantly to sun, pollution or makeup - is vital. It's also the trick to fight the signs of ageing if you are about that life. To me it's more about just keeping the skin clean and healthy, I don't really mind if my age would show since apparently I look younger than I am as it is, and also my age doesn't really define me. But what does define me is having a cruelty-free routine for my skin. If that sounds like something interesting to you, keep on reading!

Thrifting the Trends: AW 19/20 - Leather Trousers

Since it's already back to school season, and we're in beginning of Autumn in most parts of the World, I thought we could switch the thrift series into the new season as there are quite many trends I'm excited to cover. If you didn't follow this series on Spring and Summer, this is a series where I take trends predicted on fashion week, and show you how to recreate the looks or the trends for less, with items you may already have in your closet. I'm not allowed to buy brand new items for this unless I get it from thrift store and I can't buy for this at all unless they are things I would buy regardless. Rock Chic Capsule Wardrobe

If you've been here on the blog or even on my Instagram for a while now, you may know that capsule wardrobes and a thing for me. I highly admire the videos showing how people have like 30-item wardrobes, but so far I'm not ready for a collection like that. However, I've been reducing the amount of items I have steadily, trying to also make the overall vibe of all the items to be cohesive in some way. There's still work to do with that, and at the same time, I want to have better materials (more sustainable, with a longer lifespan) and more or less timeless pieces, while still having the rock chic vibe there.

Becoming Confident in Your Own Style

Not too long ago, I had a little talk with an online friend about style and her telling how she likes what I wear - and me telling it's not about having brand new clothes, but rather other things. Most important being confidence in your style. I think I have rather decent experience to talk about this, taken I rock my colorful hair, showy makeup, and alternative (rock) style on daily basis. If someone like this can have it together, so can you (most likely your style is at least a bit more toned down - but if not, I'm very excited for you).

Keep on reading to see ten tips on being more confident with your style:

China Glaze You Do Hue First Impression

Today, I'm excited to be talking about yet another nail polish collection. Not too long ago, I purchased the You Do Hue collection from China Glaze almost in all its entirety. I left out one because it didn't speak to me as much, but I'm sure it's a shade many other people would enjoy. But I'll give some opinion about each shade I do have, two of which I have actually worn already, and rest of them I have only swatched on wheels. But I do have thoughts based on that and the swatching videos I've seen around. I try however keep the thoughts original as much as possible.

Thriftng the Trends - Biker Shorts

Today's post features an item I didn't expect enjoy styling this much - and ended up not only doing one look, but three instead. These looks might take away from my metal girl street credit (if I even have any), but I had so much fun creating this post that I don't even care.

This post is another part to the series "Thrifting the Trends", where I take the trends predicted on runways for the season SS19, and create them either by using what I already have, by thrifting or by DIYing the items. So I'm trying to show how most if not all trends can be recreated without necessarily going to the fast-fashion shops and contributing to the problematic industry just because you're on a budget. The inspiration for the looks comes from the trend reports on Vogue and Pantone, one focusing on styles and other on colors.

And so without further ado, let's get into the looks:

Get the Best Sleep Your Body Deserves

This post is a continuation to last week's anxiety management post (click!), where I promised a whole another post on habits that could make you sleep better. These are things I try to live by, but I don't stress about them - not only because stress doesn't help you sleep, but also because I have my routine down and do these pretty much automatically. And also since the routine is there, it doesn't hurt me too much if I slip every once in a blue moon.

Since this is health-related yet again, I'm going to have to put up a little disclaimer: While I've noticed these work for me and I get my sleep as well as stay healthy doing these, I'm not a health nor mental health professional. In case you're suffering from severe insomnia, or any other sleeping disorder, please contact your doctor first. That being said, let's get to my tips on better sleep.

Jeffree Star Jawbreaker Palette Review (+ two bonus items)

I feel like everyone and their mom have already reviewed this palette, but how many of them have truly reviewed it? Like, used all the shades, worn the palette for a month straight, seen the good, bad and the udgy of it. Well, not that there's actually an ugly side to the palette - in my experience there isn't - but just to use the saying. In this post, we'll dive into the Jeffree Star Jawbreaker Palette and two non-JSC products, because I want to give shoutouts to them too.

How to Manage Your Anxiety

Remember how I mentioned wanting to get more into informative posts? Well here's the first one. Not too long ago I talked to a girl friend who battles anxiety, and we had a good talk about how possibly ease the symptoms or even prevent them in your daily life. And since this day and age so many of us have trouble with anxiety, I thought the same tips could be shared in a blog post to maybe help more people. These are things me and people I know well have found to be helpful, but everyone is different and you may have anxiety that needs more care than this. In that case, it's no shame to contact a professional because anxiety can truly prevent you from living if it's severe.

And of course the mandatory disclaimer here: I'm not a health nor mental health professional, and I'm merely sharing what has been helpful to me. Take everything listed here with a grain of salt and try them out if they sound any good to you. I'll try to back up my claims with reasons or even science that is available to anyone, but I will not say that any of these tips will magically cure anything or that they will be absolutely effective for everyone.

Green Nails

It's been a ridiculous while from my last post, but the break from both work and blogging has been needed. It's given me the chance to work on my Instagram feed and offline projects, which is really wonderful to be honest. I did, however write ahead on the posts I will be publishing from this day forward, so no, I haven't abandoned or forgotten my blog at all, don't worry. I'm still thinking doing a bit of re-branding here as well, because I don't feel the content gives enough to you guys. Sure the manis may inspire you and the few outfits I share are fun in my opinion, but there's probably more I could give to you.

For example, I've been trying my best to help out a couple of friends by giving them lifestyle and relationship advice, and they've said the advice has been helpful. I know there are dozens of good life advice creators on every platform, but I'm thinking maybe giving my two cents on certain topics might be interesting. And maybe those could be inserted into the posts with nail art or outfits and therefore there would be balance of fun and informative. What do you guys think about that?

At the beginning of this month, I had my birthday. And I kind of celebrated for a week. Which is - like the title tells - what this post is about. If you're interested in seeing more about that, read along, and if not, come back for the next post which will be about other things.

Who wants to get back into nail art posts? Because I sure do. Today, I'm sharing pictures from a little while back as I have been lacking in blogging for some weeks now. I've tried to plan my life and have routines so I could better fit blogging in, but to be honest it was hard for a while. Now, I think the routines have settled in their place enough for me to add writing the posts in.

But now, without further ado, I'll show you the nails:

Festival Outfit Lookbook - Inspired by Elize Ryd

Headed to a rock festival this year but not knowing what to wear? I got you covered girl.

In this post, you can see six looks inspired the queen of metal looks, Elize Ryd. I've said time and time again how I love her style, and while I can't wear these looks to the office nor am I going to too many festivals this year to showcase them for you the regular way, creating a lookbook with them  felt like a nice idea. So without further ado, let's get into it.

Trying Victoria's Secret Models Inspired Diet - The Results

I know I promised this post to be up so much earlier. I'm sorry about the delay, but let's make this more useful one since it's late, okay?

This diet/exercise regime has actually brought a lot of good into my life. And that's what I will be talking about today. I'm hoping this post will inspire you to do a better life choice today, no matter what that will be and how small one it will be. And it doesn't have to be about weight at all.

It's a new week with new opportunities. Today I had to be extra efficient at the office as I was on a work trip the past two work days and that means a bit of piled up things as you can imagine. Today I also tried to get ahead of as many things as possible so that this week's trip won't make my Friday into a chaos. This month is truly flying by, haha.

Grunge Inspired Outfit

A week of work and a couple of work trips behind, feeling tired but also the trips, as well as many other things at work, felt super good this week. I don't know where this positivity is coming from but can we keep it that way, please? I'm going to keep today's post quite short since it is after all "just" an outfit, but I am planning longer posts as well for those of you who enjoy reading more.

Hey lovelies and welcome to a scheduled post I prepped for you so that you will have content even when my workdays are long and I can't be sure if I have the time to write anything. Today, I've been on a worktrip to another city for our customer event, and I'm predicting I won't have the energy to sit on the computer after the thing. So, I wrote this one already on Tuesday together with 5 other posts to keep you entertained for a while. Hope you like that.

But now, let's get into the nail art!

Trying Victoria's Secret Models Inspired Diet For 2 Weeks - The Start

Lately it seems there has been a bit of a wave of "I tried ___ diet for a week" type of videos on YouTube, especially from Blair Walnuts. And that inspired me to try out a diet that is inspired by the kind of one Victoria's Secret models claim they follow. I gave myself an easier time with the dinners, because we eat the same food as dinner with my boyfriend and it doesn't make sense sustainably that we cook different meals just because of the challenge. But my breakfast, lunch and snacks were determined by the VS meal plans I managed to find on the Internet.

Thrifting the Trends - Bleached Denim

Hope you've all had a lovely weekend so far. I've been enjoying not being online so much, which really is good for the brain as at the office, I'm on computer all day for the most days, and that's unhealthy as it is, but also I've chose to have blogging as a hobby and try to be active in several social medias - especially Instagram - so I get maybe a bitt too much of the Internet/computer time constantly. Shutting off from it from time to time feels amazing.

This post is another part to the series "Thrifting the Trends", where I take the trends predicted on runwqays for the season SS19, and create them either by using what I already have, by thrifting or by DIYing the items. So I'm trying to show how most if not all trends can be recreated without necessarily going to the fast fashion shops and contributing to the problematic industry just because you're on a budget. The inspiration for the looks comes from the trend reports on Vogue and Pantone, one focusing on styles and other on colors.

Geometric Nails

Today's post is about nails again. If you haven't noticed, I've been very inspired to do different kinds if manicures lately, and I've thought that documenting them here would be fun for you as well. So those will keep on coming later on as well. But, if you're not into nail art, don't worry, the next two posts will be outfit ones! I'm so happy I've gotten more into the style side of this blog this year, I've missed it a lot but when my life was in a turning point a couple of years ago, I really didn't feel like outfit shoots other than taking a quick one for Instagram and it took a while to get back to being me. And currently, I feel more like me than in quite a while. Which is nice.

Anyway, that's something I might touch on in some later post, but now, let's get to the nails:

Happy Friday people, hope you've had a good week so far! Today has been quite a lot for me with a busy day at work and then with taking our little one to the vet for the first time. It did go nicely but I was very anxious because it was a new situation and those make me nervous every time. So I thought that in case you've had a nervous day as well, I'd post something cute and light-hearted to cheer us all up.
